Camping food for me, dh, ds's 3yrs & 1yr - Any advice

Going in a caravan, no microwave, not near any supermarkets. What should I take with me?

So far
Corned beef + spuds for hash
Ellas kitchen fruit packs for ds2
Cous cous because its easy.

Now i'm stuck. we are going for a week. Anyone done anything similar? What did you feed everyone?? All ideas gratefully received.

assume you have a fridge? I never uyse a microwave so in a caravan youcan do pretty much anything you like
In a tent I take:
eggs for boiled/scmabled/omelettes
sausages and beans
bacon
pasta and pesto/jars of sauce
bread

Is it going to be mostly stuff on toast?

Bacon or sausages for the morning

Stir fry with those half cooked throw them in the pan noodle thingys
pasta with jar of sauce
curry
BBQ
Pub

In that order depending how skint I am

I always take a meal or two from the freezer for the first night and next day when camping (they help to keep my coolbox cold too). Our fave first night camping meal is fruity chicken curry with rice and naan bread

We always take eggs, croissants, pasta and sauce, sausages and bacon for breakfast

How about bacon and mushroom pasta (recipe on MN recipe section) also curries from jars with rice.

Surely it wont be too different from cooking at home if you are in a caravan?

I pretty much cook nromally in a caravan

Pre-cooked meal from freezer for first night - thawing on the drive there - eg spaghetti bolegnese

caravans have hobs, usually ovens too I believe, also a fridge, so can't see why it would be that complicated!

I usually make every thing from scratch, jar stuff seems to taste a bit odd

I didnt fancy having to pack up a weeks worth of shopping in the car with travel cot, pram, buggy board, clothes for everyone towels etc etc.

Trying to limit the baggage really.

I think jars/ tins will have to be the way forward. At lease its only one way baggage.

for pasta sauce you only need a tin of tomatoes, so tomato puree and a little jar of herbs....

buy nice tinned food from M&S then
