Want really impressive party food to wow new mums and dads - we have moved to a new area so pushing the boat out

Will be 20 adults , 12 kids mostly 3 yrs olds and 2 9 yr olds

No table so easy food to eat while standing up with no cutlery

No messy food - having party at home - so no sticky chocolate

Have fout who seem quite traditional in tastes and the rest quite international

Thinking of
cheese board
cocktail sausages
ham board
chicken wings
jelly ( but woried messy)
baguette
crackers

but seems a bit basic?

what do you think?

thanks

I would add to that,

warm crusty bread served with bowl of hot melted garlic butter
bowls of sundried tomato and olives
pastry finger food like salmon triangles or homemade sausage/cheese rolls/puff pastry pizza
chocolate dipped fruit (you CANNOT have a 3yo party without chocolate )
sandwiches - shaped with cookie cutters, or pitta pockets
crisps - adult ones and children ones
bowls of raspberries/blueberries/strawberries

Nice bread

Butter not urghh 'spread'

Home made dip with carrot sticks/celery sticks/breadstick

Fruit kebabs for the children instead of jelly

Sticky cocktail sausages are yum - paint with a mixture of honey and mustard before cooking, baste during cooking too.

Have fun

hoping to have fun

having kids MAKES you have to be more social doesnt it?

I'd say you need cake. Do you bake? I'd do brownies and cupcakes probably. Or puddings - pavlovas, cheesecakes, profiteroles. Fruit platters.

For savoury I'd include olives, nice crips, cruidites and dips and pate to go with the cheese on the nice bread.

If you want to do sandwiches for the kids I suggest you get hold of biscuit cutters and cut out some stars/fish/dinosaurs/whatever.

Sounds lovely. Enjoy. (and don't forget the wine!).
