I regularly do it - I leave it covered and make sure I heat it right back up and let it bubble for a few minutes before eating it.

TheArmadillo · 01/09/2008 13:05

yeah but make sure reheated to boiling point. I wouldn't leave it any longer that tonight though.

posieflump · 01/09/2008 13:05

yes

Yes.

solidgoldbrass · 01/09/2008 13:06

Yes so long as you cover it (unless you want fly-bolognese)and reheat it thoroughly.

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 13:07

Oh yes I will cover it, otherwise my cat would have her head stuck in it!

Thanks

Yes - definitely would check for non-pressence of cat before re-heating though.

Takver · 01/09/2008 14:00

Yes of course - we don't have a fridge, would happily leave bolognese from one day to the next so long as well reheated and weather not extraordinarily hot (not really a problem this summer )

BigBadMousey · 01/09/2008 14:06

I wouldn't but there you go - I have to be different.

AtheneNoctua · 01/09/2008 14:18

I wouldn't either - unless it was veggie. But, that wouldn't be bolognaise

RedHead81 · 01/09/2008 14:21

I wouldn't either - i would let it cool (covered) and put it in the fridge asap, then reheat well when you need it.

RedHead81 · 01/09/2008 14:22

I have done a food hygiene course so I know about food poisonings - plus have been poisoned at a restaurant once and don't want to have that ever again!

Thats why i'm overcautious!

Hulababy · 01/09/2008 14:26

I would and do. Infact made one this morning early on, then reheated it at lunch time for DD, her friend and my godson. Do it often and has always been fine. I always make sure I reheat it s it is really hot and fully cooked trhough.

Have a meat and a veggie chilli on the hob at the moment too, also made this morning. They are for tomorrow evening. They will go in the fridge in a bit as being kept overnight.

Takver · 01/09/2008 14:27

I've also done a food hygene course - and of course it is important to be careful. But . . . it is worth remembering that fridges are a pretty recent introduction, certainly only widespread within the last 50 years, and our grandmothers certainly kept and reused leftovers. So long as you are aware of the issues, cook well to start with, cover when boiling, and reheat thoroughly, I see no problem with it.
I must admit to wincing however when MiL reheats the same pot of veggies 5 days running (and avoiding eating them)

Gobbledigook · 01/09/2008 14:29

I do it every time I make bolognese.

RedHead81 · 01/09/2008 14:54

my grandfather keeps a pot of stew going for 3 days, reheating it each time he wants more

BigBadMousey · 01/09/2008 14:58

Redhead that is a tradition down this way and was the major cause of food poisoning a few years back in this County. Very baaaad idea.

RedHead81 · 01/09/2008 15:00

yep i know! and i tell him too! but he wont have any of it!

BigBadMousey · 01/09/2008 15:01

Well if he has done that all his life then I guess he's not going to - thats why people still do it down 'ere.

frankie3 · 01/09/2008 15:02

I would do this with bolognese, but I wouldn't do it with a chicken dish.

Jojay · 01/09/2008 15:04

I wouldn't. Keep it in the fridge in between.

BigBadMousey · 01/09/2008 15:20

frankie - why? You have a higer risk of food poisoning with any mince dish...
