What fruit do you feed your children?

My daughter is 7 years old and likes fruit and veg, but I am finding fruit so expensive. What fruit do you buy for your children that is not too expensive but doesn't get too boring? I used to buy a melon, some strawberries, some apples and peaches or nectarines, pref. organic, but that is much too expensive now. This week I've just bought apples, but know that she will get bored of them soon. Any suggestions?

Apples, bananas, grapes are always in the house. Satsumas/manarins, melon, strawberries, blackberries in season.

apples are staples in this house,
we have clementines, melon, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, kiwi, bananas (although not often as DS's don't really like them)
grapes as well as preprepared fruit - trying to get DS1 to eat fruitini things for his packed lunches in September.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've just baked the banana loaf with some grated carrot in too and it's lovely, although a little soggy - I've put it back in for an extra 20 mins on lower oven temp, fingers crossed.
DD has been having Fruitinis for breakfast (and crumpets!) for months but has now gone off them!

Mine eat

bananas
raspberries
black berries
strawberries
physalis
pears
melon
kiwis
satsumas
mixed berries
passion fruit

Everything is so much more expensive these days.

One of the main problems was I have read so much about how we should avoid non organic grapes, strawberries, tomatoes, because of excessive pesticides used on these fruits, but I just can't afford organic any more. I just hope that we are not building up problems for our children in the future. Everyone says, we survived, but then when we were children they didn't use as many pesticides as these days, so I suppose we really don't know what the outcome will be.

Frozen raspberries are great - they stretch for miles - add to yoghurt, put in puddings/cakes, etc. They're a bit soggier than fresh but delicious still and one bag goes miles!

Yes, I usually have frozen raspberries in the freezer too. I've been to Aldi today and bought some plums and a melon, very reasonable. The strawberries for £1.49 (I think) and very tasty, compared to some around in the supermarkets now. Also got blueberries for £1 from Tesco and clementines there for 85p.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
