We are going on holiday on Sunday(self catering). Am trying to do a tesco shop so that we can keep costs down and not eat out that often. My brain is not working - what type of stuff do I need.

If it is a caravan holiday you need things like, Cheesy pasta. Salad, Baked Potatoes. Cereal, bread, cold meats, cheese, crisps, juice, milk, Breakfast things (bacon, eggs, sausages etc), Beans, All dietary requirements go out of the window on caravan/self catering holidays as yu have very little space to prepare food. Also make a lasagne/shephards pie and freeze it then you can just reheat when you get there, serve with crusty bread and butter. Hope this helps.

the same stuff you'd usually buy to cook meals with

lots of stuff for picnicks

snacks and small bottles/cartons of drinks for taking on outings with you to save on forking out for overpriced drinks and snacks

I didnt mean diet as in losing weight, I meant the '5 a day diet, meat and 2 veg diet', goes out the window when in a caravan.

dont forget the tin foil or clingfilm to pack your sarnies in for your picnics - also raw veg and dips and crisps (like tortilla chips). Hardboiled eggs are great for picnic lunches! Dont forget kids juice bottle for drinks when out, or buy one four pack and re-fill them!!!

We usually eat out once for lunch and once for tea.

Toilet roll, kitchen wipes/spray, washing up liquid. Clothes for kitchen/bathroom. Tins of soup are always a quick easy standby. WINE!! Dont forget the WINE!!!
