OP, I have the same problem - am on WeightWatchers at the moment but have kids who need calorific meals... it's not easy, is it?! I tend to do one meal for me and DH and a separate one for the kids if it's not suitable for them (eg. salad) or I just try and find things I can cook in 2 batches, ours with no oil, theirs with etc.
Agree with whoever said (sorry, post is on previous page!) that eating at certain times of day is irrelevant - I don't believe a word of that.
Also agree wholeheartedly with the poster who recommended WeightWatchers. It's a really sensible, easy diet - you can eat and drink anything you like as it's your portion sizes which are restricted. And to OP, yes, pasta on a diet is easy - we have it all the time. It's lovely with roasted butternut squash chunks for a really filling meal. Or with roasted cherry tomato sauce (with balsamic vinegar, garlic and basil). As for nuts, which have been mentioned a few times, it depends whether you want to lose weight as quickly as you can, or are going for more of a long-term healthy eating thing - yes, of course we all know we should opt for the latter, but let's be realistic here Nuts are soooo high in fat that it's going to take you longer to lose the weight if you eat them (even accounting for the 'they fill you up for longer' thing) - but of course they're brilliantly healthy. So personally I'd stay off them whilst I was trying to lose the weight and then go back to them afterwards
