Hi all, I am really fed up of serving dry food of limited variety to my ds. He will eat dry pasta with sausage, chicken etc but nothing with a sauce. What he eats is very limited. I have tried using the giving him a meal and if he doesn't eat it then he will get nothing else method. Hed will eat veg and fruit but I would love to see him eat spag bol or lasagne, or a sunday roast with gravy on
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

good luck - I'll watch your thread with interest. DS1 is 6 and a half and still doesn't

I try and not get too stressed because he does eat ve and fruit but wis there was a bit of variety in his diet and he would eat what we do. All I seem to be cooking him is dry pasta and sausage or chicken

i wouldnt forsce i would except that what we ike he doesnt

maybe make small bowl with sauce in to dip food into but dont force to eat it maybe if he doesnt feel pressured he may want to try it if he tries small amount lots of praise and it may encourage him to try more

i know lots of children that dont eat wet food but do occassionally dip when they want to some noow eat spag bol etc and some still dip but not every one likes the same food

just a thought could you make a sauce with veg from scratch so he can see whats going in and maybe get him to test it as making it and name the veg making it fun maybe he may want to try very small amount with something in a bowl

I would second the getting him to help you make something so that he's bought into the process.

Alternatively...

A friend of mine's son wouldn't touch wet food either. He came to our house (and I didn't know this) and had made lasagne. The mum said: I'm so sorry, but he's probably not going to eat it. The son sat down next to my son - they're highly competitive. I said: let's see who can eat their food first.

The kid scoffed the lot. His mother couldn't believe it. So she went and made lasagne for him at home and he wouldn't eat it. She said: but you ate it at josh's house. He said: only because I wanted to beat Josh. But since then, he has got better apparently.

So not sure if that will work, but worth a try?
