Tell me if this is a bit wrong

I have a really good baby/toddler/childrens cook book. It's not Annabel Karmel, but it's very good.
Is it wrong of me to cook these for ds but make the rest of the family eat it all as well?
Can't see why as all the ingredients are healthy, and instead of freezing 2 weeks worth I just cook everyday like I have to for dp's dinner anyway. He laughed at me when he saw what I was doing but I can't see anything wrong with it, it's not like I'm dishing up a Hipp Organic jar.

I do the same

littleboyblue · 24/06/2008 16:49

Oh good. I'll show him this then!

I used to do that too, when the kids were younger.

OverYOURDeadBody · 24/06/2008 16:51

depends really. I'm not sure the resat of the family would be happy with puree, but if it's just normal healthy recipes of course it's not wrong. Food is food.

littleboyblue · 24/06/2008 16:54

It's not puree, haha could you imagine, here you are love. Hard day at work? habe a bowl of mush! Maybe I'll do that though next time he pisses me off! haha
Ds is nearly a year so it all "proper stuff" I tried the meat loaf the other day and it was great!

What book is it you have littleboyblue?

Might get a copy myself!

kolakube · 24/06/2008 17:59

I do this and just don't tell him where the recipe is from. How many meals can you be expected to cook daily?! You can always add bits to the adult serving - salad, garlic bread, chilli etc.

littleboyblue · 24/06/2008 21:20

Good idea kolakube ilovefoxes the book is The Big Book of Recipes for Babies, Toddlers and Children by Bridget Wardley and Judy More. It isn't quite as long winded and complicated as Annabel Karmel, not much of all that put this ingredient in for 5 minutes, then add this one and in 10 minutes add that one, it's more get a pan and chuck it all in. It even has a section for kiddies party food. I'd really recommend it. £12.99 but if you gonna use it, worth it.

littleboyblue · 24/06/2008 22:42

Hehehehe. Would kill for a glass of wine! Only another 7.5 months till I can have one

ilovefoxes · 24/06/2008 22:45

Are you PG?
I didn't realise, I wouldn't have teased you with the thought of wine if I had known

Congratulations!

littleboyblue · 24/06/2008 22:47

Yes I am, thank you. This is why I'm concerning myself with ds's eating. And how to make it all as easy as poss as ther'll only be 18m between them!

OP posts:
ilovefoxes · 24/06/2008 22:52

clever thinking to plan ahead - you are going to have your hands full!

Did you plan an 18 month gap?

Thats what I would like, a small age gap, dd is just 8 months and we are trying for the next one, but c -section and b/f mean my cycle is all over the place! TMI - sorry!

littleboyblue · 24/06/2008 22:58

That's ok. We did plan this one. I got made redundant just before I was due to return to work so we decided we'd have our family now and then in a few years I can get back to my career without distruption IYKWIM.
We started ttc when ds was 6m, m/c and then fell again straifght away!
I didn't get on with bf, gave up after 3 days as started to find blood in ds's mouth and it really hurt, plus he a big boy!
Not going to attempt to bf next one. I like the structure and routine to bottle feeding tbh.

I found bf hard work as well, I gave up after 3 months, I will try with the next one.
I was glad when I started giving DD a bottle and dp could help out and give me a break!

Hopefully I'll be on here soon telling everyone I'm PG as well - fingers crossed!

littleboyblue · 24/06/2008 23:07

Yes, goodluck! I'll watch out for your announcement.
