Healthy emergency dinners for after school when everyone needs feeding fast

My daughter gets home from school exhausted and 'hangry' at 3:30 PM, right when my toddler is waking up from his nap and demanding milk. I feel like I’m failing at housekeeping because I can’t even prep a basic meal without someone screaming.

What are your go-to 'emergency' healthy dinners that take zero prep?

Wholemeal or seedy toast, wraps or bagels with:

  • cream cheese and salad leaves
  • mashed avocado and salad leaves
  • humous and salad leaves
  • left over roast chicken, mayo and salad leaves
  • nut butter
  • grated cheese and tomato
  • ham and lettuce

Banana milkshake - just blitz a large ripe banana with a drop of vanilla essence and whole milk or oatmilk. Makes 2 glasses.

Wholemeal toast with low sugar baked beans is also good.

Left over plain pasta, reheated for a minute or two in the microwave with pesto and grated cheese, or mashed avocado and grated cheese or herby cream cheese, or fresh ready made tomato sauce and grated cheese

Fresh ravioli or tortelloni cook in two mins in boiling water from the kettle. Drizzle with pesto and grated cheese.
