Ideas for early morning snacks for a 12 month old?

I've just stopped breastfeeding my 12.5 month old (which he's taken to really well as he LOVES food) but he still doesn't like drinking anything other than water. When he wakes up at 5.30/6am, he's naturally hungry, but I'd rather he had breakfast at normal breakfast time (around 7/7.30). I'd like to give him some milk to tide him over, but he's not at all keen and spits it out if I put it in his sippy cup. He bloody loves pouches of porridge or smoothie but I'm trying not to give him 15 million a day 😆Any other suggestions for something I can give him when he wakes up that will fill his tummy enough before we're ready for breakfast?

Fruit, cheese

Banana. I used to keep a bunch by my bed so I didn’t even have to get out of bed to feed him.

Banana or toast.

That said, other than milk, I can’t think of many foods for early in the morning that aren’t basically breakfast.

I’d just do breakfast 1 and breakfast 2. A banana, fruit and Greek yoghurt, toast and then eggs, porridge, more toast later on.

He won’t always wake super early so just feed him whatever is easy. I think a porridge pouch is also fine for convenience sake.

A small bowl of plain natural yogurt.

Buttered toast. Mine liked instant mash, the stuff from Asian supermarkets with has no additional ingredients, lots of butter

Also, pikelets are great. You can make up a batch and freeze them, then leave one to defrost overnight for a morning snack. I find them less filling than pancakes, I guess because there's no egg. My toddler loved helping to mix batters from about 16 months, so as a bonus it is a good toddler entertainment activity!

(They also make a great and easy lunch food topped with things - avocado, egg, beans, cream cheese with ham, etc.)

Yoghurt pouch, pancake, banana, home made savoury muffin, pitta bread to gnaw on

I’d just start to take him down and have breakfast around 6.30. If you have a DP/DH they may be able to do this some mornings so that you can get ready.

If you do want to give him 2 breakfasts, I’d try a banana or a youghurt pouch for his first breakfast Smile

I used to leave a non-spill cup so that they could get their own drink when they woke up. That might help?

We had 2 breakfasts for years!
Cereal, toast, fruit. I cant stand the stuff, so no yoghurt here, but that would work.

And then sonething different for secobd breakfast - including pancakes, drop scones, waffles, eggs at weekends.

First breakfast was always the boring one tho, as I didn't want to encourage the early waking!!
