How to eat is fantastic.

Can anyone help me on this thread i have left all my cookbooks at my sisters after cokking for a party, I'm looking for a Nigella Recipe on the net but can't remember its name. You batter pork with cloves and different herbs and tear it to pieces as you would duck. It's reccomended to be put in Ciabatta bread. Anyone have an idea of what i am talking about?

fairyfly · 29/01/2005 09:22

Batter as in Hammer not deep fried

One more vote for How To Eat. I have all the books and love them.

Is it this?

I love How to Eat.
My dh always laughs at Nigella Bites because the print is really big, there are loads of pictures of her plus blank pages for your notes. He thinks it's an awful lot of style over substance.
However, the recipes are good. But for value for money I would always go for How to Eat - it has no pictures at all but the writing totally compensates and gives you just as good idea of what you're cooking.
Domestic Goddess would have to be my second most used.
Again, Nigel Slater is fantastic. We love Real Food in this house. His small paperback Real Fast Food is great and was my first ever cook book.

I'd go for How To Eat too, nailpolish. Good all-rounder, though you do have to watch some of the recipes. Good ideas for chidren's party food, too.

Nigella Bites has a good mix of big meals and quick stuff, but feast is lovely too, and has some nice children's food. Not too keen on Nigella Express.

how to eat is good. my current favourite though is teh garden cookbook by sarah raven (nigel slater says it's never far from his side..)

nappyaddict · 17/01/2008 11:33

oops i think a single shot of grand marnier would have been enough

Housemum · 17/01/2008 11:57

I like Nigella Express - the programme was cringe-inducing but the food good - particular fave is curry-in-a-hurry though I add a bit of cornflour at the end as the sauce is v runny. The kids liked the sweetcorn soup & nachos though I thought it was a bit "gritty" - perhaps i didn't blend the sweetcorn enough. Haven't got Nigella bites (though have every other one!)

bozza · 17/01/2008 12:04

bundle I might ask for that Sarah Raven one for my birthday - think it is quite expensive. I have How to Eat but have not made that much from it - takes me a while to get into cookbooks I think. Delia is my most used one over all.
