I was given lots and lots of rhubarb yesterday from a friends garden, I wll make a rhubarb crumble tomorrow but what can I do with the rest of it.

Can I freeze it, if so should I wash & chop it first?

Any advice much appreciated

Freeze it raw and chopped (easier to store than long stalks).

MIL stews her fruit then freezes it but I always think it doesn't taste as good when you do that.

My experience of freezing my rhubarb was that it turned very soggy when cooked afterwards. Definityly a dissappointment.

Haven't tried again but next time i think i would wash, cut and blanch for a minute or two to see if that works.

The advice for freezing most veg is to blanch first, and start the cooking process off that way.
