Any good ways to use laverbread beyond breakfast and rarebit?

I recently bought some cans of laverbread, the Welsh seaweed delicacy, from an online retailer (no chance of finding it in the shops here in the middle of England). I’ve doused it in flour and fried it as part of a cooked breakfast, which is how I remember my Welsh grandpa preparing it. I’ve also added it to some Welsh Rarebit, which seemed appropriate. Has anyone found any other successful uses for it? The internet mainly suggests mixing it with oatmeal and forming it into patties, something which I can’t recall my laverbread-loving grandpa ever doing.

I love seaweed and I love laverbread. I’ve seen recipes for laverbread scones.

My best memory is of eating it fresh, but it was coated in oatmeal, not flour. I expect the tinned isn’t a patch on fresh and I think you can get it sent by post.

Google “laverbread recipes”?

I have, and the recipe that keeps coming up is the oatmeal patties one, which I will try. I\ve also seen it suggested as a pizza topping, and I will try that. I was just hoping that the collective wisdom of MN would throw up some ideas that haven't reached the internet yet.

I think it would work well in ramen, maybe incorporated into a pasta sauce too.

Would definitely work in an omelette or quiche.

Mix it in with cooked bacon lardons and some cockles and top with a little cheesy sauce and a breadcrumb crust. Grab some lovely bread and dig in. Heaven.

On toast with salt, vinegar and white pepper...

I think it would lend itself to Far Eastern cuisine. I've discovered that Japanese nori is the same species of seaweed as laverbread, the difference being that nori is a dried product while laverbread is a mush. When the next bunch of tins I've ordered arrive, I'm going to try to make a laverbread-based sauce to serve with fried tofu.

Jane Grigson has some recipes in her Vegetable Book.
My copy is still unpacked, but the lamb one might be interesting.
Ingredients as follows, but I can't access the full recipe.

lamb rack; Port wine; oranges; lemons; new potatoes; laver seaweed

WTF ? Why hide a recipe ?

@worrisomeasset
My post has been hidden, no idea why.
If you Google the ingredient list I posted, you'll find it.

I’ve now found the recipe online but I dare not post a link in case I also fall foul of the MN moderators.

I went to a local charity shop this afternoon, and found a copy of the Jane Grigson book there, on sale for just &2.50! It has a whole chapter on laverbread recipes, six to be precise. Here’s a page (MN moderators permitting)
