Boosting white blood cell health via food intake

Me, 61, just over breast cancer lumpectomy op and short session of radiotherapy and will be starting anti cancer tablets soon that knowingly reduce white blood cells and therefore affect the autoimmune system

I’d like to be 1.5 stones lighter as well and im fed up of being fed up feeling awful.

also on long term calcium tablets with d3 but would prefer to try and boost calcium naturally.

A varied diet of meat, dairy, fatty fish, fruit and veg is what’s appearing on the net.

my brain is a fog at the moment and was wondering if there were any books, advice with recipes I could follow online or would I be best finding a nutritionist to help me?

I've been trying to help DS1 with an anti-inflammatory diet recently to build him up after an illness which has damaged his nervous system and the advice we've been given is similar.

I've really found this nutritionist's advice useful, and she's just written a book too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Nonsense-Nutrition-BESTSELLER-Science-based-Transform-ebook/dp/B0FT3DWM1D

In terms of cancer and the immune system (I’m also going through my second round of cancer treatment), the best thing you can do is eat to support your gut microbiome. So eat lots of prebiotics (blueberries, asparagus, pomegranate seeds, onions and leeks, you can look up a list) and fermented foods (kimchi and other fermented veg, kefir, kombucha) and natural yoghurt. Avoid probiotics though and they can overwhelm your gut. You want to build up your microbiome slowly and naturally with diet.

Also it’s not what you’re asking, but sleep and gentle exercise are really important for recovery too.

Thanks

i have been watching some of the BBCIplayer programs in series 2 of Just One Thing, started with Eat Oily Fish, then the chocolate one with Zoe Ball, next on the list is drinking black tea.

So far found a lot of interesting and useful information I wouldn’t have expected in each program.
