Over strawberries - YES. Elmlea tastes shit.

In cooking - no.

Tutter · 15/06/2008 21:04

yes elmlea is generally eaten (drunk?) by common people

fryalot · 15/06/2008 21:04

depends what you're using it for, i think.

Elmlea tastes ok in my coffee
cream is better poured over my cheesecake

yick ! never had elmlea and wouldn't want to

Mercy · 15/06/2008 21:07

Is is some sort of cream substitute?

If so, I'd rather go without and eat less cream

brimfull · 15/06/2008 21:08

elmlea sucks

but I don't really like cream either

we picked our own as well soooo yummy, picked asparagus as well

GeoffWode · 15/06/2008 21:16

What exactly is it? Is it UHT cream?

Mercy · 15/06/2008 21:16

Just read that it contains hydrogenated vegetable oil.

I think I'll give it a miss!

beansprout · 15/06/2008 21:17

Yeesh!

MrsBadger · 15/06/2008 21:19

it is to cream what marg is to butter

ie it will do but isn't as good

TheProvincialLady · 15/06/2008 21:20

It is vile stuff, stands out a mile whether cooked or uncooked. I don't get what the point is.

beansprout · 15/06/2008 21:21

In my mind it lives with Sunny D and Smash, i.e. nasty imitation of something that is not much cheaper and so no point in eating it.

MrsTittleMouse · 15/06/2008 21:30

I just don't get elmlea. Why not buy cream? Even tinned cream is much nicer.

missorinoco · 15/06/2008 21:32

a cream girl here. elmlea doesn't work as well in banoffee pie.

Flibbertyjibbet · 15/06/2008 21:46

I used to buy it till I read the ingredients.

SantaBarbara · 15/06/2008 21:53

Synthetic stuff, Elmlea. Cream much nicer.

maidamess · 15/06/2008 21:55

I use Elmlea. My local Londis doesn't do cream.

MrsTittleMouse · 15/06/2008 21:57

Can you get tinned cream any more? Just realised that pre-DH tinned peaches with tinned cream was one of my favourite comfort foods, but I haven't had it in years.

MrsBadger · 15/06/2008 22:00

yes you can
tis with the condensed milk in tesco

maidamess · 15/06/2008 22:01

Mmmmmm condensed milk....

One must always be ready for a carbonara!

margoandjerry · 15/06/2008 22:06

My local shop stocks elmlea not cream and I use it in cooking (savoury things). It's fine. Can't tell the difference in a pasta/cream/parmesan type dish.

MrsTittleMouse · 15/06/2008 22:07

Ooo, goody! I think that the baby is craving some tinned cream and peaches.
