I'd like to eat more brown rice but it takes forever to cook ( ok 30-35 minutes). Is there a hack?

like batch cooking it and freezing?

Any suggestions appreciated.

As well as the single usage of the pouches, they are sooo expensive.
I'm a 25 mins plus resting Tilda girl. I just ignore it, there's as good as no hands on time so it doesn't bother me.

The pack is two portions though...

Two large portions?
Or enough for an adult and two children?
Give over 😶🤣

Half a pouch is enough for me so this poster is not alone

I use brown Basmati rice, it cooks under 20 min.
I wouldn't eat the microwave rice - we already have too much plastic in our bodies.

I freeze grains but I would also suggest bulgar wheat, although to be fair I like that to sit for a long time while Im doing other things, I cooked up a batch of bulgar this morning and that will do me 5 meals (breakfast as it happens) this week.

Thank you

Will this not be adding more micro plastics to our diet?

I use a multi cooker with a pressure cooker as part, I cook 4 cups at a time which is 8 generous portions and freeze 3/4 is 3 separate tubs, just get out of the freezer the morning you need it. If you have a more organised freezer than mine you can cook even bigger batches

I wouldn't bother with the Aldi one....it's very dry and like small maggots! I'd go for brown basmati from Sainsbury's or Waitrose.

Also bear in mind that brown rice contains more arsenic than white.

I don't have Lidl but the pouches I buy have some added ingredients, including 'vegetable oil' which I have heard is palm oil.

If it is palm oil, then it should say so.

Put the rice on first before you start doing everything else.

Four, five, maybe six?

Morrisons brown basmati rice is good, I haven’t been able to get in sainos for months.
as others have said, soaking it helps to soften can you do this earlier in the day? I measure out with a mug (3/4 mug of rice for two adults), pour into saucepan and cover with water and swill round. Leave until ready to cook, boil some water in the kettle, drain the water from the rice then use twice the amount of water to rice. Cooks in about 20 minutes.
