Hey everyone!

Opening this thread out of curiosity - what are you prepping today ahead of your Christmas dinner/food tomorrow?

I’ll be making brownies, cauliflower cheese (assembling it but not baking), carrot and swede and peeling/cutting for the roasties and carrots/parsnips. Although, I’ve seen some people say don’t leave veg sitting in water overnight as it’ll go soggy…! That wasn’t a worry of mine until now 😂

Let’s share what we’re up to today, and vibe check 😂

My prep started at 8.30am this morning. A caterer knocking the door, a paper bag with foil trays, instructions, me trying to squish it in the fridge around the cheese, bottles of water and some onions.

That's me and dog sorted for tomorrow!

(There was an offer on months ago to get lunch delivered, I'm on my own now, had years of doing £££s and prep, so hey, I've done my bit! Only £20.)

Breadcrumbs for bread sauce made, pigs in blankets assembled and plain and sage and onion stuffing balls made. Giblets boiled. I might prepare the veg before I go to bed. Xmas pud and cake bought, but I forgot to make mince pies. 😱 I made a huge chocolate cheesecake, though, but we’ve eaten that! 🤣

Not hosting this year, going to my mum’s, but I’ve just made some home made coleslaw that can be a side dish for tonight/Christmas Day/Boxing Day and I’ve roasted some chestnuts to go with sprouts. We’ve one family member coming to us on Boxing Day.

DO has prepared a huge dish of dauphinois and I’ve peeled the sprouts. Will do everything else tomorrow. There’s only five of us and the mains are M&S nut roast and Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference salmon en croute, so it’s just the vege to do really.

Turkey defrosting in the fridge since last night.
I’ll move the prawns from the freezer to the fridge to defrost overnight tonight (they are cooked and peeled).
Trifle already assembled and in fridge.
Yorkshire puds I’ve made from
scratch yesterday and they are in the freezer.
Thats it. Most of my veg will be roasted in the oven, I don’t bother prepping it in advance.
I’ll also just make the cauliflower cheese tomorrow.
Pigs in blankets and roasties will also go in the oven, I don’t make roasties from scratch. Much as I love them they are
too much faff and take too long when I’ve only a small oven and too much else
to do.
Keeping things fairly simple.

All the rest I will do tomorrow.
