Simple daily puddings/desserts?

Teens seem to be hungry after dinner. I think some hot puddings is the way to go in the winter but I don’t have that much time.
They could make some themselves of course.
Theyre not fans of cake but do like crumbles and fruity stuff.
Looking for some inspiration please.

Sometimes I make the crumble topping separately and keep it in a jar. The DC can then cook their own fruit (they just chop fruit and cook on the hob with a bit of butter and sugar), add crumble topping and cream and they are happy.

Tinned fruit or bananas and custard is also popular.

Often I make a pudding in the Sunday and there’s enough leftover for a couple of portions in the week.

Rice pudding!

I haven't done it for a while but I always feel like its a good pudding that warms them and fills them up. Obviously homemade stuff is far superior, but my kids definitely won't turn their noses up at the tins either, with a blob of jam.

Yogurt.
we buy large tubs of greek yogurt and vanilla

Decant into small bowl, add granola/ nuts/ seeds/ honey/ fruit/ grated chocolate or whatever combo according to hunger and preference.

Soup before dinner. Warming. Filling. Liquid is good for those who don’t drink enough. That’ll fill em up.

And for afters:
Square of caramel shortcake in rhe micro 20 seconds, then add a blob of ice cream.

Tinned fruit if you can get seasonal stuff served wirh a mini pot of custard. Put it all in the micro to heat on a cold day. Or indeed a slice of any cake or brownie type thing with custard. Magical transformation occurs in the micro lol. 😂

Healthy puds would be good but I can think of any. Hopefully someone else will !!

All the major supermarkets do their bakery large fruit pies, not expensive. Obviously not as good as home made, but warmed up with custard, quite acceptable. Can also be frozen.

Rice pudding is a good one! I make in bulk in the pressure cooker. Quick, easy, cheap and fairly healthy.

I always feel like rice pudding is a 'healthier' one as well - even when I use double cream etc. High in calories I guess, but not a bad thing for teenagers who never seem to stop moving or stop eating!

I always used to love a baked apple stuffed with raisins and syrup on top. Sadly my own children turn their spoiled noses up at that. I did make apple fritters which went down well. My husband often makes pancakes for pudding with chopped bananas and he makes a chocolate sauce out of Nutella. That is very popular! He also does banana splits with the Nutella chocolate sauce and ice cream.

Rice pudding is a good one. I remember seeing oven baked ones so that sounds like minimum effort. They like tinned fruit. I must remember to buy some.

I put frozen berries in a bowl, microwave for between 1 - 2 minutes until they are hot and then have greek yoghurt on top. Sometimes I stir oats in. You could add honey, nuts and/or seeds on top.

Sticky toffee pudding is easy and can be portioned up and last a week...

It's not healthy though ... did you mention healthy?

My mum would often make self saucing puddings that were quite easy to make.

Arregaithel · 26/11/2025 13:51

microwave mug cake

Yes to crumble
Yes to bananas and custard
Yes to rice pudding - delicious made in the slow cooker too, although you don't get the lovely skin then
Chocolate concrete with chocolate custard
Tinned pears with chocolate custard

I sometimes make little pies using bought pastry - like big sausage rolls but with some frozen berries, a spoon of cream cheese and a bit of icing sugar
