Best roast dinner sides to serve with a pot roast?

I’m planning to make a pot roast this weekend with a selection of sides for people to help themselves. Thinking Yorkshires, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans/broccoli/parsnips.

Can anyone think of any other sides that would go well with this?

Maybe look up an American website, I don’t think that’s something we typically make in the UK

Mashed turnip/swede

I would do either or green beans/ brocoli

What’s a pot roast

My favourite sides are red cabbage, parsnips, brocolli, carrots and swede mash.

I'm British and I would call a beef joint like brisket or silverside slow cooked in liquid a pot roast.

I'd be more likely to serve it with buttery mash and steamed green veg than traditional roast dinner trimmings.

I'd add roast carrots, and swap the broccoli for either buttered cabbage or roast leeks. I only eat broccoli with cheese though, I'm not so keen on it with gravy.

Carrots roasted in the oven with a dash of honey over them.

Oo yes cabbage or leeks,

Pot roast is definitely something we do in this country, I remember hating it as a child because there always seemed to be a horrible lump of fat in the middle. It's how you cook a brisket or one of those tougher joints of beef. I think the cuts are nicer these days!

I would normally do mash rather than roast potatoes and Yorkies, but probably only because I only had one oven the last time I made it and the beef was cooking at a lower temperature. Savoy cabbage with bacon lardons maybe too, as well as carrots and peas?
