Water like Edinburgh tap water?

Edinburgh tap water is delicious! But it’s at the other end of the country from me. Is there a bottled water tastes like Edinburgh tap water?

Lake District tap water and Snowdonia tap water are also lovely (hmm…mountains?) so bottled water that tastes like them would also be great.

And before anybody leaps down my throat over the evils of bottled water, I’m a tap water drinker. But a few drops of Edinburgh tap water is the perfect mixer for a good Scotch.

Strathmore bottled water is lovely.

I like highland spring but it doesn't taste like Edinburgh tap water.
Is there a market here?
Maybe I could start shipping 5l containers down south to all the whisky drinkers 😂

I immediately thought of Del Boy filling up bottles from the tap of his home in Peckham !

Are you seriously suggesting that you could tell the difference between a Scotch and water made with one sort of water over another?

Absolutely. Very hard water for example is absolutely revolting if you've been accustomed to very soft water. The taste is immediately apparent.

And vice versa @GetOffTheRoof - we live in a hard water area and I hate visiting anywhere with soft water - it’s so soapy and sweet to me.
not sure I could differentiate water from different regions though, that’s next level and I only drink water (and some occasional vodka and soda waters!) 😂

Granted - but being able to tell the difference between two brands of bottled water, especially when mixed with Scotch?

Highland Spring.

Have you got hard and soft mixed up? I'd say its the hard water that has that sort of taste. I find it doesn't satiate thirst properly for example.

I live in and grew up in Cornwall, but for 15 years was in the south East and couldn't stand the tap water. I drank filtered the entire time 😂

@GetOffTheRoof 😂
no way, hard water is the ultimate water -
soft is creamy and smooth and horrible 😂
Eta I live in the SE and our water is the best!!

Absolutely! I like a very mild Scotch, not oaky, smoky or peaty, and the flavour of the water really comes through. With SE water, it just tastes like diluted whisky. No added dimension, just weaker. With Edinburgh water the taste of the whisky was enhanced.

It’s a bit like choosing tonic water for your G&T: Schweppes or Fever Tree?

Is that the same water that furs up kettles?
