Indian Takeaway for 22 month old

OK - revealing my colours as neurotic mum...

As you can see by the time, I'm VERY behind on getting dinner organised. Had new cooker delivered today and haven't finished cleaning it in preparation for cooking

So DH is going out for an Indian takeaway. I'm wondering what dishes are best to get for a 22 month old? I've steered away from takeaway for her so far because I've been worried about salt/spices etc.

Should it be OK to give my DD indian takeaway for dinner tonight? Any (veggie) dishes better than others?

Cheers

Ds2 is 24 months and he loves chicken shashlik! He also likes chicken biryani, poppadoms, nan. He's not so keen on dishes with sauces, but loves the drier ones.

Dd likes the above, and also chicken korma, and tandoori chicken.

Ds1 like poppadoms and nan!

My ds (22 mths) loves spicy food. We don't tend to eat take aways because of the salt and the cost, lol, but one won't do any harm. FWIW, ds loves rice, nan and a little curry. Don't know what ones to recommend. Give her a little of yours, that'll probably be enough.
Hope you all enjoy it!

I would worry about the :

salt content
sugar content (yes, lots of it added to curries)
colourings and MSG
poor quality meat

But, if I had nothing else to feed a 22 month old on, I'd order some plain rice, some yoghurt and mint dip, some plain naan bread, and maybe pick out some veg or peices of meat fom the curry with most of the sauce off to feed her.

Dahl and nan popular here. Also chana bhaji if it isn't spicy.

Thanks

Any ideas on good vegetarian ones for her?

We have a very lovely takeaway just round the corner from us, which is very posh and uses excellent meat! You really can taste the difference between it and some other not so posh takeaways!

tortoiseSHELL · 04/06/2008 19:17

YOu could try just a plain vegetable curry, or a vegetable biryani.

HAving said that, it won't do her any harm to have one occasionally, but just give her a bit of yours. Kormas are my DS's favourite but obviously are high in dugar (but not as much as a chocolate cake so not the end of the world really!)

tortoiseSHELL · 04/06/2008 19:17

Ds1's best friend likes chicken chat.

OverMyDeadBody · 04/06/2008 19:18

Oh yes I agree TortoiseShell, definately taste the difference.

Biriyani is a good idea..

OverMyDeadBody · 04/06/2008 19:18

The chicken on skewers (can't remember what it's called) is good and milk, with no sauce.

Thanks folks.

I'll give her some of my rice & dhal and I know she'll like a bit of nan. I've made her a little side salad so she doesn't just fill up on salty takeaway.
