if you were trying to hide milk from vegans for a couple of days, how would you do it?

and before anyone gets offended I have every respect for vegans and their way of life [disclaimer emoticon]

but I am going on a yoga weekend this weekend and it will be all vegan and healthy

now I have got myself down to one cup of coffee in the morning but if I don't have that I will get headaches and that will not be relaxing

so I am packing a little one-cup filter thingy and some coffee but will need milk

I don't know if I will be allowed access to a fridge

any ideas? I mean I may get so desperate that someone will convince me that Coffee Mate is a good idea

Not all vegans/veggies will give you stern looks and a lecture if they see you eating something they don't.

i think it is an image that is given of them by the up-tight, self-righteous and precious minority that give the majority a bad name.

A lot of vegans/veggies just go about what they do quietly and explain why if asked - but not thrust it down someones throat if they happen to see someone else partaking.

I know i do anyway.

I see that as being counter-productive to the cause.

i would never like to think i ever made someone feel uncomfortable just cos of my own personal beliefs.

MamaG · 04/06/2008 12:50

Are any of them breastfeeding?

I'm looknig at you beacuse I didn't know you were a healthy weirdy

EricL · 04/06/2008 12:51

COW ABUSER!

Cappuccino · 04/06/2008 12:52

Eric I just think that if everyone started bringing their own food to a residential holiday and demanding fridge space it would be impractical and a bit rude

I just wanted something that would go among my belongings

I am not healthy Mama

it is a Yoga for Chronic Fatigue weekend

I am the very antithesis of healthy

if you call me a weirdy again I will come and stand on one leg outside your labour room

Ah thats OK then

Actually that sounds great, I hope it helps to puff up your froth

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/06/2008 12:55

Mamag are you suggesting she wanders round with a black coffee hoping to find a bf vegan, and ask for a squirt?

Cappuccino · 04/06/2008 12:56

it is vegan cookery they said

maybe they will have some milk hanging around the place

but I can't take any chances

soya, as previously pointed out, is vile in coffee

Yes, but a bit of milk in your coffee isn't exactly "Demanding your own food", is it? You're going on a yoga weekend which presumably you've paid for - that's not the same as subscribing to a whole lifestyle.

Cappuccino · 04/06/2008 13:00

I do really see it as a medication

It really depends on the people.
Vegans can find dairy products rancidly smelly.
It's also the principle thing.

BUT I'd ring and ask if I were you - they may be fine about it.

Blu · 04/06/2008 13:01

Smuggle it in in a mooncup.

It may pop out incoveniently during certain Asanas, though....

FruiTicky · 04/06/2008 13:02

at weekend of vegan food cooked by somebody else

EricL · 04/06/2008 13:02

As someone has said - these small uht pots you get in hotels is the way to go.

Subtle and no need to refrigerate.

You can get them near the dried'UHT milk in most supermarkets.

Everyone knows UHT milk is about as far away from a cow as you can get anyway......

Oliveoil · 04/06/2008 13:02

if it only for a weekend, can you just not have coffee?

have some willpower woman

madamez · 04/06/2008 13:02

You are, presumably, a paying customer. You are not pouring it over them and rubbing it in while shouting 'Lovley! Milky milky!' at them.
Take a carton of UHT long-life and if they find it and start bleating and farting, tell them to get the fuck over themselves.

Cappuccino · 04/06/2008 13:03

oh ticky you are right

but now it makes me feel like I am making a big fuss out of nothing

I will try to nick the milk sachets from the train

and if I don't manage to score some I will just have to take my chances

maidamess · 04/06/2008 13:03

I'd make 2 giant wobbling milk puddings.

And just stir spoonfuls of it in to what I need.

Theres a helpful suggestion for you.

EricL · 04/06/2008 13:03

"Vegans can find dairy products rancidly smelly."

That is EXACTLY the kind of thing i was talking about earlier.

Psychomum5 · 04/06/2008 13:04

fridge for the car

you could always get one of these, and pop in frozen milk to start with....looks as thos it has a back up battery so it will keep goig even with the car parked.

if this helps that is

Cappuccino · 04/06/2008 13:04

olive it will make my head hurt

I don't want to have a headache while I am trying to achieve Inner Peace
