Holy Grail of mixer/processor/blender?

I just want to buy one….i don’t mind spending a fair bit of cash on it but I need something that is super quality that will support baking, soups, smoothies, sauces and bonus marks if it looks stylish on the worktop (but not essential!). Is it possible to get an all in one that is brilliant at everything?

Vitamix Ascent A3500i. Best kitchen accessory I own. It is expensive but it’s solid and it’s incredibly versatile. It makes nut butter with no issues. And dips and soups are silky smooth.

I have this all in one system. Its great

Thanks both! I’m wondering if I need something a bit more “mixery” for dough and cake batters

I've got a ninja blender and it crushes anything I've thrown in, including ice

Kenwood Chef with the glass blender attachment. The mixer is great, and the glass blender is a proper blender - it knocks my stick blender into a cocked hat.

Not as good for food processory stuff though (chopping/slicing) - for that I have a Magimix. You can get small bowl attachments for the Chef which do some food processor stuff.

This is looking promising! It’s mostly blending and mixing I would need it for thanks!

Make sure you get a proper Chef model and not a kmix, the Chefs are the OG kitchen machine and go on for decades! They are all repairable as well.

Mine was a wedding present 20+years ago and is used several times a week, still going strong. My mum’s 1970s version is also still soldiering on!

I second the Kenwood chef with blender and food processor attachments. The food processor attachment I have sits on top like the blender does, rather than using the mixer bowl, and has lots of blade options like slicing, grating etc as well as the normal processor blade. Mine’s a modern one I got about 5 years ago.

Kenwood Chef, then all the accessories for birthday's Christmases for the next 20 years at least! I love mine, make cakes in it regularly, sometimes kneed bread. Have the glass blender for soups and smoothies, also the food processer. I also have the ice cream maker attachment, the mincer, a pasta extruder, a juicer....trying to think, I have a whole cupboard full of stuff! Love the small blender attachment which came with 4 glass jars with screw on lids used for spice blending and sometimes batching up breakfast blends.

I got a great deal on a Thermomix TM6 just before the TM7 came out. It came with an extra spare jug, a steamer, a grater, slicer and a spiraliser. It does everything from crushing ice, to grinding coffee beans and spices, to blending and making doughs. It can even peel potatoes, garlic and beetroots. I can cook a sauce in the jug while steaming rice, vegetables and fish at the same time

It's verrrry expensive though but I've not used my Magimix or Kenwood stand mixer since

Another downside is that you can't buy it in the shops, only from a local advisor. You're supposed to get a follow up appointment once it's been delivered and ongoing support but my advisor seemed to disappear after I bought it. I've not needed much help though as there's loads of videos on YT and groups on FB for advice and ideas

Wowsers that is a serious bit of kit! Maybe a bit too pricy for me although it is rather lovely…

Well I had considered the Magimix…the thing that put me off was if you want to use the small bowl you still have to have the full thing assembled resulting in having to wash up multiple bowls (and I am lazy). Do you love yours? It definitely has kerb appeal!

I'm just here to add another vote for the Kenwood Chef. The glass blender is ace; the plastic one is rubbish and doesn't work. I also have the food processor attachment that fits on top like the blender does, and it works well. Mine (a classic Chef I think) is compatible with all sorts of ancient attachments from the 70s as well, which you can sometimes get second hand. I don't think my partner knows quite how many grater attachments I've got... I have the little mini grinder thingy that goes on it too, and it's really useful for if you want to grind a handful of nuts or make a few breadcrumbs.

I love it. Easy to use. Does everything but not complicated. And yes - washing up… 🙈

I’ve a thermomix on order, it looked amazing in the demo. But yes, very pricey.

LunaDeBallona · 04/10/2025 00:12

Bought this 4 years ago (got mine from Lakeland when they send the 20% off any spend over £50 vouchers).
Yes it’s pricey but it will see me out.
I love it so much that if the house was on fire after the dog I would save this.

Definitely Magimix. I bought mine in 2000 & it’s still going strong!

RomainingCalm · 04/10/2025 00:51

I think I’ve had my Magimix for close to 20 years and it’s still going. I use it loads - if it broke tomorrow I’d sell the cat to replace it (maybe not!). I have a Kitchenaid that I use more for cakes but it’s the Magimix that’s the workhorse.
