Tofu no ice - advice please

I have tried tofu half a dozen times. I really want to like it but find the texture unpalatable halfway through eating it. I've tried it in Chinese and and a Indian meals.
I have just been given a tofu press, and am hoping this will make a difference by getting more liquid out than using a baking tray weighted by a tin.
can anyone suggest any really nice recipes to help me embrace tofu please? TIA.

It doesn’t have much taste or a particularly nice texture on it’s own is my personal opinion.

i tend to buy the smoked stuff, and marinade it in a sauce before cooking.

rolling in cornflour and frying in sesame oil or peanut oil is also good.

it’s good in a Pad Thai.

I hope this works for you if you want tofu in your diet.

I have tried every suggestion and recipe idea and still hate it. I don’t agree that it has no flavour. However much I have marinaded it in Ginger / chilli etc etc it has, to me, a horrible residual sickliness.

How do you cook it after pressing? The texture is best when it’s done in the oven imo and in smaller cubes rather than larger pieces.

Grate it, season with spices and fry until crispy. Excellent on a pita bread

Squeeze moisture out, roll in soy sauce then corn flour then fry - no not healthy by this point but tastes great

IIRC I either fried or cooked (cubed) it in the oven before adding to the Chinese or Indian sauces, but it's been a while since I tried it, so can't remember.
grating it sounds interesting.

If you aren't a huge fan of the taste or texture of tofu, then Felicity Cloake's vegan ragù is perfect.I chopped up the tofu and vegetables into a fine dice. The recipe is rich and delicious, and while tofu gives it body and texture, it's not dominant so perfect if you're more of a tofu sceptic.
Meera Sodha's vegan banh mi is more tofu forward than the ragu, it's an absolute banger, and as the tofu is finely chopped/minced, it might be a good intro dish. It's sharp, spicy, crunchy, fresh and comes together so quickly. It's probably my favourite tofu recipe.
My favourite tofu forward recipe is Ottolenghi‘s black pepper tofu. It's amazing. Totally packed with flavour and the firey sauce pairs so well with the relatively bland tofu.

I’m probably not the right person to comment as I love tofu. But I like it best either battered like fish or crumbed like schnitzel. But I also like it in great slabs!!

Thanks for the suggestions, will give them a go 🤞.

I love tofu, but my favourite way to cook it is to press the excess water out, break it into rough chunks and air fry it for 10-15 mins and then add to a curry or stir fry, it needs something with flavour, like a curry, but the texture is drier and is perfect in a curry.
