Cottage Pie - cook before freezing?

As the title says really. Want to make a cottage pie to freeze and not sure if I should cook it before I freeze it? The mince will obviously have been cooked before I assemble it but should I put it in the oven once the mash is on or not?

TIA.

Definitely cook it first. Cook it all before you put it together actually 😃. Great for batch cooking. Enjoy an easy tea

I wouldn't. The mince is cooked. The mash is cooked. Put them together, freeze and heat once before eating.

I wouldn’t cook it. It needs to be hot anyway when you eat it so surely just cook it later.

I was going to write a very similar post tonight. I am going to make some cottage and fish pies to pop in the freezer for an elderly relative and I wasn’t sure whether I can just make them and freeze at that point.

when I batch cook at them I usually just freeze the cooked filling and put fresh mash on before I cook.

No, I don’t.

I cook the mince, cook the mash, then assemble and freeze. I don’t cook the finished product before freezing.

I prefer to just cook the meat mixture & freeze in portions.
It's more versatile; it can be topped with mash, or turned into a pasta dish or moussaka.
