Not sure if the right thread - but cooking experience gifts in London, for enthusiastic and genuinely good cooks?!

My brother loves cooking, and is rather good at it. I'd like to gift him some kind of cooking class in London, but he is also vegetarian. He likes most cuisines, but is already excellent at Indian food, so maybe somethign East Asian/Thai.

Anyone done anything particularly fun and memorable?

Yo sushi do a cooking class. I did it years ago and make sushi often. I mean- he could google how to make it, but if he went with someone, its a few hours of fun.

I've heard good things about the Waitrose cooking school, but haven't been myself. You could give him a voucher or pick a specific lesson.

These might not all be offering the right sort of classes, but its a start:
Borough Kitchen:

DH did a knife skills lesson there as part of London Craft Week.

Avenue Cookery School Wandsworth

DD did her DofE Gold Residential with them, but they do have adult lessons

I had a former colleague who raved about a seafood lesson he did at Billingsgate. This is the successor school, I think:

If he fancies a trip to Bath, Bertinet Kitchen is usually very busy:

Does the knife skills class teach you how to carve a chicken? I'm getting fed up of OH's method of tearing a leg off and cutting straight across the breast bone!

A friend of mine did one here and said it was great. Looking at the courses this might be a good option:

Oooh I had forgotten about my class there! Totally agree - it was great.

If you follow the “kent” link, you’ll see they are doing the course at Billingsgate.

I’ve just reminded myself that some of my friends have done “foraging and cook it” courses (coastal things down in Dorset and another in the distant limits of NW London).

Thanks very much! That's Christmas sorted 😄

Apologies, I even saw that Kent school when I was checking if Billingsgate cooking school was still open, and every link I found said they'd closed! I'll be looking into it though for myself, thank you.

DD just did a cookery class at the Gordon Ramsay Academy. They have locations in London and Surrey and offer a wide range of cookery themes. We found them very good.

AmicaNemica · 04/09/2025 21:30

I have done a few at the Waitrose cookery school (there was a discount with My Waitrose card). Locations at King's X and Finchley Road (have done Christmas foodie gifts and Korean Street Food).
