Large Freezer dishes

I am increasingly having to cater for meals for 8 adults or more.
I am not the best cook btw.

It is beoming more logical to freeze some meals, ready for when needed.

What dishes do you use please to put in the freezer?
And I presume the dishes would then be put in very large freezer bags?

I dont think pyrex do big enough dishes?

I have a large family and I tend to split over two smaller dishes

a) because they're easier to store b) they defrost and cook more quickly than in one massive dish c) it's quicker for people to serve themselves from two dishes

Pyrex do freezer safe dishes that also have a plastic lid so no separate cover needed.

Didnt know that about pyrex dishes. Thanks.

I hadnt thought about the defrost.
Think I will still opt for the larger dishes for now thank you.
Once I can find them!

I freeze in single portions in ziplocs, as flat as possible. It’s much quicker to defrost 8 singles than an 8 portion lump. And it keeps my dishes free.

Occasionally I have made large lasagnes, or shepherds pie. I line the dish with a couple of layers of tinfoil so that when it’s frozen, I can take it out of the dish and wrap it up. It takes up less space, and keeps my dish available. I just used an outer layer of cling film. I prefer square/rectangular dishes for this rather than oval for storage.

Excellent suggestions. Thank you.
I knew there would be people who could give me good ideas.

I love my pyrex dishes for the freezer.
But have you thought about the large foil trays you can get - so long as you aren't wanting to microwave them

If you are thinking about currys/stews/casseroles/chillis ext then I'd go down the plastic freezer bag route, use a measuring cup for a 'portion' (depends on appetites I suppose!) freeze flat and they then take up less room.

I do as bumblebramble does - line the dish that the lasagne is going to go in with tinfoil, fill up, freeze and then remove from the dish (to reuse) and wrap up the food in tinfoil and cling film not forgetting to label.

You can do this with cakes as well if I know I'm going to need the whole thing at once. But if I want just portions I bake the cake (or unwrap store bought!) cut up into portion sizes, split with little bits of grease proof paper and then put in a freezer bag.

I quite like the Batch Lady who has loads of free recipes, a series of cookbooks, and is on instagram and is also on TV with Joe Swash (not sure that's a great selling point).
