Do you wash your berries?

I usually give mine a quick rinse under the tap, but read recently that a soak in water and bicarb before you store them helped to extend their life in the fridge.

I gave this a try with some strawberries (Sainbury’s) and was surprised how dirty the water was. Is this normal for anyone else who usually soaks their berries?

That water looks clean to me! I give them a very quick -probably not at all effective- rinse under the tap

also I thought this was going to be about males showering 😂

I leave them in water for about 20 minutes but that is mainly blackberries / raspberries / blueberries as we don’t eat a lot of strawberries.

If you pick black berries it's good to soak them in a bit of salt so the fly larvae come out. They're fine to eat, don't do you any harm but you might prefer not to be eating them!

Nope. Nor the ones picked when walking...

Don't wash them or any fruit and veg at all.

I must confess, I always ate strawberries, blueberries and blackberries straight from the plant whilst sitting and pottering in the garden.
Then, having seen some shite on FB about soaking them, I did.

Jeez.....I'll never eat them from the plant again🤣

I do, however, have an excellent immune system😉

Nope. I’ve seen the results of washing them, so I vaguely think I should, but I’ve made it to 70 without bothering, so can’t fret over it really.
