Dairy free baby shower!

Hi,

I'm planning my sister's baby shower. She is dairy free and ideally, as it is her baby shower I'd like her to be able to eat most of the food there.

Ideas I have thought of so far are:
Veg sticks
Tortilla chips
Salsa dip
Chicken satay sticks
Sandwiches with dairy free marge (?!)

We do also have two gluten free people so if I can combine both even better!

Hummus as a dip - plain crisps or tortilla chips
Cakes and biscuits made with dairy free marge

Sausage rolls - most supermarket ones are dairy free and if you’d rather make your own, Jus Rol puff pastry is dairy free.
Vegan pizza - the one with a sourdough base by White Rabbit is both DF and GF and actually tastes great.
falafel
Popcorn
Doughnuts - almost all supermarket doughnuts are DF

Meringues and strawberries
Gluten free pasta is fine as long as you don't overcook it so could make a pasta salad, you can buy vegan pesto.
Just roll do a gluten free puff pastry....although not sure if its dairy free... for sausage rolls.

Lidl’s Mayo is DF if you’re making sandwiches.

Most mayo is dairy free, including Hellman’s

Fruit platter
Jam tarts are df - you'll be able to get gf alternative mini cake

Crustless quiche (both df and gf if you avoid cheese)

Lots of fruit - fruit salad or if you are trying to do finger food only, grapes, strawberries, melon slices

For sandwiches, I’d provide rolls or baguettes and let people build their own from fresh meats, cheese, other fillings, keeping any dairy if you have it and gluten separate. Then people can take what they want and it’s so much less faff.

Find a local gluten/dairy free cake maker and have cakes/cupcakes made. A really good allergen free cake is a beautiful thing. I wouldn’t try to do it yourself unless you’re already good at it. It’s worth paying for.

Thanks for that. When I first went DF I don’t think Hellmans was so I will look out for it Smile

Vitalite is REALLY good for baking, if you want to make a cake.

Most Asian food is dairy free.
Easy to make cakes, biscuits, etc by replacing butter with spread such as “ can’t believe it’s not butter”. Just check for the vegan symbol on the package. Most plain cooking chocolate is dairy free as is Costa hot chocolate powder - ideal for chocolate cake.
In this hot weather sorbet is great.
Check “ free from “ supermarket shelf for dairy free cream, crème Fraiche. Avoid vegan cheese - it’s disgusting.
Replace milk in recipes with oat milk, it tastes identical even in tea.
