hi, just a few little questions, any advice gratefully received. my ds currently eats 3 meals a day, he's a good eater, normal day something like full weetabix for breakfast, a full jar pprtion and yoghurt at lunch, then half a jar plus fruit at dinner. he has snacks, toast, biscuits, fruit etc aswell. he drinks about 12 oz formula milk a day. am i feeding him too much so he's not getting enough milk? i'm really worried about this, he'd eat more if i let him but i want him to keep drinking his milk and not be too full with food iyswim. am i being paranoid? he's a happy little soul, very active, doesn't sleep much (if at all) during the day but goes 11/12 hrs at night.

hi there

my DD is 8 mo and she drinks about 20 oz milk a day between three bottles.

she probably eats about the same as your DS at mealtimes but does not have snacks in between, so if you are concerned about him not drinking enough milk I would cut out the snacks first. I think the advice is that they should have 16 oz milk at the least at this age.

hi there. the trouble with my son is, and this is no exageration (sp) if anyone is eating around him, he goes mad. in public, in cafes, shops, whatever. he just is desperate to try a bit of whatever anyone is eating. even on other tables! is he doing this because he's hungry or does he just really enjoy the whole eating thing?

yes my DD is just the same- I often have to hide in the kitchen if I fancy a snack because I will be in big trouble if she catches me with it!

mostly I think that she is just excited about the new world of flavours and textures she is experiencing and keen to have a go with new ones. I do sometimes give her a piece of banana or a slice of very ripe pear or melon (something that is mostly water so will not fill her up). Maybe you could try dropping the more calorific snacks like toast and biscuits? I have noticed that if DD has toast with her lunch she does not finish her mid-afternoon bottle, so I have cut back on it quite a bit.
