Would you write a letter of complaint about a bad meal in a restaurant?

We should have complained at the time but, like fools, we didn't.
The food was so bad we left most of it. As we left the restaurant we saw full plates on all the other tables, where other people had left their food too.
I'm considering writing a letter of complaint but not sure it would change anything.

Yes, if you don't complain then nothing will be changed.

Is it a chain of restaurants or an independant? If its the former, I would definately write, if not, its unlikely you'd get anywhere, but still worth the cost of a stamp, I suppose.

I think it's owned by a chain. the food tasted like it had been cooked by the work experience boy.

I've written a letter complaining about bad service and got a free meal as compensation. That was a national chain. Mind you, if your food was that bad, you probably don't want another meal there!

I wrote to complain about the service in an independent - and got a fulsome apology and a free meal, at which we were treated like celebrities. Good businesses want to hear when things go wrong. Worth a quick email IMO, at worst they'll ignore it.

It was a Brewers Fayre restaurant (Harvester-esque) so we should have known better but it had an indoor children's play area so it seemed ideal.
