I hope this link works OK if not then Google it and you'll find them . Kitchen craft do double ended measuring spoons with the size you want Spoons

I like that company, I have a pan lid stuck in the basket that I need to order. Unfortunately those spoons, like many others I find, just dont have the measurements I want

In this instance I would research freezing bread dough an make full batch. I think it will work.

Unlikely to find scales that accurately weigh such a tiny amount.

I have a teeny tiny set of scales, probably the sort that drug dealers use, for measuring this sort of quantity

RainbowSlimeLab · 21/06/2025 16:59

Could you weigh it instead?

Well I will be having sharp words with Gemini if it doesnt go to plan!

Gemini can tell you how to do something, not whether you should.

I wouldn't try this just because of the faff of effectively making 2 bread rolls at a time (plus waste of heating my kitchen, especially in a heatwave in the UK) but it will probably work?

No room in the freezer, and as I say I dont want to be overloaded with bread/dough as i want to make different things and have a variety

Well I like experimenting so Im doing it for fun more than anything, and the recipe is for 2 cups of flour as opposed to 3 cups of flour, so its only cutting down the loaf by a third, it will still be massive if the first one was anything to go by

Ive already gone off piste because I got some bread flour today and am doing it with that instead of the normal plain flour. Its in the bowl now, we'll see how it is tomorrow.

American recipes are crazy. Weigh your ingredients.

Mossstitch · 23/06/2025 23:49

i wouldn't worry too much about the measurements, i make bread dough at least twice a week and never weigh or measure anything, just throw it together and it always works. You can keep the raw dough covered and in the fridge for a few days and just make a couple of bread rolls when you want bread or pizza bases if you like pizza.

Found this one..seems you need to search for scientific measuring spoons/tools.

Sorry edited to add it from USA site..possibly get one elsewhere.

Yes you're right, Im trying a few different recipes though and some are cups and some are grams, the problem with some of their recipes is that they give a range for the weight, not just one weight. A nuisance.

I'd just use a 1/4 tsp measure and fill it to 2/3 by eye, so just over half full. Likely to be fine.

But I've got dual platform scales for this sort of thing. Mine are the Kitchen Aid ones, but there's a few available.

I needed new scales and as a scientist I liked the idea of being able to measure down to 0.01 g. I got a cheese making kit a few years ago that I'm trying to use up and I needed 0.16 g of rennet for some of the recipes, so it's good for that and probably similar to the amount of yeast you're trying to use.
