Genuinely crunchy chocolate fridge cake recipe please

Most biscuits go soft in a fridge cake, I find. Are there any that don't? I'd be super-grateful if you know of any.

I just use (Aldi) digestives - are you leaving them in big enough 'chunks'?

I find Lidl digestives and rich tea are not bad, the more expensive digestives behave worse I find! Ginger nuts if you like them hold their crunch well. Once it's cut though the air gets at the cut surface and it will soften biscuits so keep as well wrapped as possible once cut. Have a good liquidy mix too so that the biscuits are totally entombed in choc mix.

Can you use Maltesers instead of biscuits? That's my usual technique.

Keep biscuits in big chunks. I also like shortbread in refrigerator cake (the cheap sort not posh “proper” shortbread)

Yep this works brilliantly, the chocolate coating keeps the crispy bit crispy, plus malteasers are wonderful and should just be added to as many cakes as possible,

Definitely agree with leaving decent sized chunks of biscuit. I use Aldi digestives, sometimes mix in some gingernuts, and squash about 60% up in a bag with a rolling pin and then crush the rest roughly by hand. Adding some rice crispies or puffed quinoa, pecan nuts, chopped hazelnuts or almonds helps too.

Sounds weird but if you can get your hands on sugar cubes they're awesome little moisture traps - putting a couple in a tub with open biscuit packets or cut fridge cake works wonders for keeping them crispy.

Maybe not quite what you are after but chocolate cracknel (?) is the best chocolate tray bake.

Cocoa, butter, syrup, cornflakes and skimmed milk powder.

I use maltesers, rich tea biscuits and mini marshmallows basically added to huge block melted cadburys😋 but it's been suggested to break up crunchie in it which i intend adding next time........its only fair to test out all suggestions🤷‍♀️👩‍🍳

I have done Crunchie (I used mini Hero sized individual ones bashed about a bit actually) and can report it works well.
