Breakfast for 12 month old who has gone off Weetabix?

Hi everyone! My DD 12 months used to enjoy Weetabix for breakfast most mornings but recently I think she has got bored of it and will refuse it. Fair enough - probably a bit boring having the same thing every day 😅

The issue is I don't know what to give her as a replacement. The Weetabix was so quick and easy, and the fibre helped with her occasional constipation. She likes to steal a few of my cheerios but I am conscious of sugar content so probably wouldn't give them to her daily ideally. She likes baby pancakes but I like to keep them as a snack for mid-morning.

What is everyone giving their toddlers? Any ideas I should try?
Thanks!

I’m with you. Such an easy breakfast. I add banana to mine though. Could you try adding lightly mashed fruit to it?

Swifey40 · 06/05/2025 13:53

Porridge with all sorts of fruit, or Greek yoghurt and fruit, or wholemeal toast and butter plus a banana. So many options.....

Viniagrette · 06/05/2025 13:54

Porridge, easy peasy and very cheap just oats with whole milk +/- fruit. Warm or cold.

Zeitumschaltung · 06/05/2025 13:55

Baked porridge, you can make ahead for a few days

Rice crispies for cereal?? Toast and peanut butter? Or marmite. Scrambled eggs on toast?

Thanks everyone, sadly she has never liked porridge (should have mentioned sorry!) but maybe if I try the baked version!

readybrek? seeded or granary toast?

andtheworldrollson · 06/05/2025 14:12

If you ate weetabix too it would be a lot more appealing

Some combo of:

Avocado
Eggs
Fruit
Yoghurt
Cheese
Bit of toast/bagel/crumpet (with peanut butter)

Our little one has a plate with three different sections. Each morning she has Greek yoghurt, some kind of chopped fruit and then in the main bit it’s usually either: toast (with butter/Philadelphia or peanut butter), scrambled egg, or banana pancakes. You can batch cook a load of banana pancakes and freeze them.

Agree with some of the suggestions here, my DD's breakfast at that age was always either weetabix, porridge, toast with peanut butter, yoghurt or the banana/egg pancakes. All with a side of berries usually.

She also liked mini shredded wheat with milk, which she could pick up and eat.

Strips of omelette and toast fingers

Toast with cream cheese or peanut butter, or cheese on toast, and some fruit

Youbutterbelieve · 06/05/2025 14:57

Peanut butter on toast and a banana or other fruit. I couldn't stand cleaning up Weetabix!

Raisin wheats soaked in milk- can’t believe they’ve been a favourite of my DS1 for nearly 17 years now!

Another one to try is Spelt/wheat puffs. My 3 year old has had these for a couple of years now, although not as a breakfast, but as a snack. Probably the only food item he's never got bored of. Anywhere he goes he'll take his snack pot filled with them. He eats them dry but they are in the cereal aisle. If not for breakfast I recommend them as a healthy snack anyway!
