I drink Sainsbury’s own boxed wine - specifically the pinot grigio and the Malbec. Both are fine. Not amazing but perfectly acceptable to put out at a barbecue or to have a glass of something without worrying about finishing the bottle

I buy a box of wine from Naked - red. It's really nice, it lasts so I can just have a glass if I fancy and then don't need to feel I need to finish a bottle (handy as my DH rarely drinks...).

What anoys me about box wine is that it is seldom any cheaper than bottles. From what I can see, most box wines can be bought in bottles too, at a similar per/litre price. I love the idea of a decent box wine to keep in the fridge, but can't be bothered if it's not materially different/cheaper/better.

I like Asda Shiraz boxed red.
Might try the Pinot that runningwhileinjured mentioned, on the look out for a decent white/rose that's not sweet.

I like the boxed white wine from Leclerc whose packaging looks like a green and white checked tablecloth. Can't remember what it's called.

Edited to add: it's called Le Tonnelier. Cheap but drinkable.

In most of Europe, it's what the vast majority of ordinary folk buy for everyday drinking at home, and certainly what any jug of house wine in a café or casual dining restaurant will have come from. The really bulk catering stuff in a 10l bag-in-box is perfectly fine (in Portugal, it's fairly easy to find something drinkable at around €1 per litre) while things that are also available to buy in bottles are usually cheaper when bought in a bag.

In the UK, it's an absolute rip-off. It's often cheaper to buy it in bottle form.
