I make a pork in cream and mustard sauce that takes minutes. Cut a pork loin into slices and bash them out slightly with a rolling pin. Fry them in a little oil and butter, remove from pan and deglaze with a splash of marsala, spoonful each of dijon and grain mustard and half a small carton of double cream. Let it bubble for a few minutes, return the pork to the pan and serve.

pasta! loads of different ideas for pasta

with cream/ peas and grated parmesean - you can even cook the frozen peas in with the pasta to save more time or add some ham/chicken/salmon

cooked pasta mised with pesto

mine love sandwiches and soup too which are always easy

and if all else fails beans on toast is a huge hit or fishfingers

corn on the cobs too

all pretty obvious though sorry

mised mixed

I also make a number of pasta sauces that only take minutes or I make things in advance.

I am currently making mini cheese and tomato quiches to go in the fridge for the weekend.

I also make fritatta regularly with whatever veg we have that needs using up but usually potato, onion, mushrooms, pepper and green beans - served with a salad it only takes about 20 minutes if the potatoes are cooked.

I second pasta.

Wraps are also good, no cooking required, just loads of different fillings on the table, DS will put almost anything in a wrap and eat it. Veg, salad stuff, cheese, cold meat, pulses, tuna, sweetcorn, cooked peas, hard boiled egg, left over chillie/bolognese, pesto, whatever's in the fridge.

stir fries and rice are also quick and easy

Couscous takes minutes to cook and is nice with a simple veg and tomato sauce, or just some chickpeas cooked in a passata with garlic, cinnamon, cumin and fresh coriander.

Tell you what's really quick and easy: heating up a meal that I made weks ago and stuck in the freezer!

It's really good to make extra of meals that are time consuming, and then portion tem up and freeze. I especially do this with lasagne, stuffed pancakes, and fish pie.

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 16/05/2008 11:37

already do the freeze stuff in bulk but that a great one,

ill try the wraps, and stirfries i don't do that at all

pasta is the way forward then

the pork and mustard sounds lovely, doesit work with a little honey?
i love honey and mustard

dd i love your ideas!

You don't do stir-fries!

Seriously, you need to start, it is so so quick and easy, and can be served with rice, pasta or noodles. Endless possibilities!

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 16/05/2008 11:42

well i love chicken fried rice from the takeaway, i love to make that mmmmmmm

Tuna pasta:

Tuna
Mayo
pasta (wholemeal, usually)
sweetcorn
a big bunch of parsley, if we have it

red onion (in ours, not DDs)

quickest meal ever, healthy and a great standby for when we've forgotten to get something, leave something out of the freezer, or when we're shattered. DD usually asks for seconds

dizzydixies · 16/05/2008 11:44

buy fresh egg noodles and bag of stir fry veg from tesco - about £1 each

blue dragon sauce packet

YUM!!!

OverMyDeadBody · 16/05/2008 11:45

You can easily make that at home, slice chicken breast really thinly, stir fry with galric, ginger, chillie if you wnat, other finely sliced veg like carrots if you want, lots of spring onion, then add cooked rice and soy sauce.

Is it egg fried rice? If so that's easy to make at home too. Just google 'egg fried rice' loads of recipes will come up and you can choose the one that you like the sound of. I tend to make and omelette and chop it upo and mix into the rice, plus one beaten egg added to the hot rice in the wok, so you get chunks of egg as well as the rice being coated in egg.

dizzy making your own sauces taste SO much better than the packet sauces, and is really quick and easy too!

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 16/05/2008 11:47
