I gave them to both of mine earlier than that - both fine!

Only thing I would watch for is that some people have a funny reaction to Quorn. I know two completely unconnected people who get sickness and the runs when they eat it. I've never had a problem myself, neither have my DSs but I'm holding out until DD is a little older (she's 14 mths atm) 'just in case'.

SeaShells · 14/01/2005 17:49

I expect they are probably better than normal sausages. I agree though, I get abit queesy after eating quorn products, but I've always assumed it's due to the fact that I get sick if I eat mushrooms and isn't quorn made from mushrooms/fungus protein....something like that anyway!

CarrieG · 14/01/2005 17:53

I try to ration them as dh loves anything Quorn based & I find too much of it sends me to the bathroom at a run!

Haven't tried ds on Quorn yet - sneaky suspicion it'd go right thro' him!

milliemolliemandy · 18/02/2006 18:35

Please please be careful, my mother who is at the other end of the spectrum is not allergic to anything else, but is violently ill when she eats Quorn, from what I have read this is an allergic reaction to the stuff it is made of. Not mushroom, but a fungus derived from soil and grown on vats of glucose then made into sausages or whatever. Not what I would give to a baby. Some people have developed severe asthma following eating Quorn.

milliemolliemandy · 18/02/2006 18:36

Also, from what I have read, the more you eat over a period of time, the allergic reaction builds up and up until you cannot eat it at all, which is what happened to my mum.

WigWamBam · 18/02/2006 18:36

I can give you Marlowe Foods reaction to this, if it helps (they are the makers of Quorn). My dh was working on a production facility there when I was pregnant with dd and asked them what their recommendation would be. They said that they do not recommend it before the age of 2, although occasional use should be OK. It's highly processed, low fat and high fibre, so it's not really suitable for young children.

It also contains a lot of egg, which many parents like to avoid until later on.

That's interesting WWb.

I find their sausages rather salty.
