Does anyone have a Magimix Cook Expert who would recommend it for quick family meals?

I had a Thermomix demo recently and feel like the idea of a thermo cooker would be good for me. However I thought the boel was small and don't like the idea of Cookidoo subscription. Magimix seems like a better alternative....would anyone who actually has one convince me that I'd get my moneys worth?

I can’t make recommendations but if you search for Michela Chiappa on Instagram she has a discount could that might be useful if you decide buy.

I have the Thermomix and am happy with it. A friend has recently changed from Magimix to Thermomix. I find the bowl size is fine but appreciate the ongoing costs with Cookidoo are annoying (given the cost of the machine).

I think for either to get your moneys worth you need to make the effort to use it. Mine lives on a work surface so always easily accessible and I now don’t buy some things because I can make it easily myself. If I’m not using the cooking mode I use it for most chopping etc.

Thank you that is helpful....if i had my way I'd want both

I also have a thermomix and am happy with it. I think the bowl looks smaller than it is - I’m always amazed at the size of the meals I make! My curries are enough for the whole family (and lots of leftovers!).

I don’t rate Cookidoo and have never used it!

I do use my thermie daily and take it with me if visiting family for more than a week!

I have a Magimix and I love its versatility, I chose it over the thermamix for a few reasons. A) the food processor b) it is heated by induction so the heat is instant and extremely accurate (I have used it to temper chocolate) c) the coccotte is the attachment that lets you slow cook, roast, and bake in (I have made the dough in the bowl and baked it in the coccette) d) the whisk means I have barely used my kenwood e) the recipes are a free app.

Actually I’ve just watched a video demo for the Magimix machine and it looks really good! Very tempted myself now! I think I want both!

Thank you this is incredibly helpful.

I'd definitely like to get rid of my Kenwood food processor as it doesn't do a large quantity of dough and now my kids are getting bigger it feels like a small batch of scones don't get very far.

Love the idea of the cocotte too. When you say roast, do you mean you out the cocotte in your oven? Or you keep it on top of the machine and use the induction heat? I haven't seen any videos of that...I will have a look

It will roast on the Magimix stand as the heat radiates through the pot. You can also use it in the oven or on the hob. It is enormous but really light as it is made from aluminium. I batch cooked a boeuf bourguignon using 2 kg of beef (it has a sear function so it truly is a one pot meal) and all the mushrooms, shallots etc. and there was still room to spare.

You can download the app to see the recipes, and there is a good Facebook page for both this country and a very active one in Australia. It is very popular there as it keeps the heat out of the kitchen.

@DihydrogenMonoxide oh shame I assumed the bowl was stainless steel like the thermie! I think I’ll wait for the TM7!

The main biwl is stainless steel, the cocotte is aluminium, if it wasn’t it would be far too heavy to lift!

SFMOP · 04/08/2025 10:09

I've just received my Magimix Cook Expert (CE). Almost bought the TM7 but decided at £900 the CE was a better option and some TMs were arriving with error codes.. I'm quite tempted to test some Cookidoo recipes on the CE using expert mode. I've seen a conversion table online thats shows the chopping speed of the TM and the corresponding speeds on the CE.

SparklyBrickViper · 04/08/2025 19:17

You can use ChatGBT to convert recipes into Thermomix recipes, so imagine you could also convert TM recipes into CE using it.

It’s a bit of faff with all the cutting and pasting (but I’m sure there’s a more efficient way of doing it), but it’s worked well for me so far. I then save them as “own” recipes on Cookiedoo.
