English breakfast for 12

Twinkletwinklelil · 08/03/2025 07:23

How would you do an English style breakfast for 12 people?
I don’t want to be in the kitchen all morning but am having people over for brunch..
sausages, bacon, egg, beans and toast or hashbrowns?
I have an airfryer and oven. Slow cooker too but not sure it’ll be much help
what would be the easiest way to do this?

So.... Nothing like what the OP actually asked for then.

That would be a lovely continental breakfast. Op wants a full English

saveforthat · 08/03/2025 08:57

I wouldn't bother with hash browns. They are not part of a traditional English breakfast and I don't know anyone who likes them.

That was my point. But I'm assuming you meant to quote the person I quoted 😊

You assume correctly.

Depending on how many shelves your oven has and whether your grill is separate it is actually fairly easy.

I have 3 oven shelves and a separate grill. What I do when cooking breakfast for a crowd is make sure I have everything ready to go so jot faffing about openi g tins when trying to keep an eye on the bacon etc. This is what I do.

Open tins of beans and put in pot, same if using tinned tomatoes.

One large tray in oven of hash browns and one of sausages.
Bacon under the grill or in your case you have the airfryer as well so could do some in each.
I do sheet pan fried eggs, very easy to do. Recipe linked below.
I would probably wait and offer toast and jam, honey etc after if anyone wanted it.
When sausages and hash browns nearly ready put the beans / tomatoes on.
If using fresh tomatoes rather than tinned I do them earlier in the oven. Just cut in half drizzle with a little olive oil, salt and pepper and bake for 20 to 25 mins. Take them out and leave on the side. When everything else comes out and you are plating up turn oven up to max and stick them back in for 2 or 3 mins to heat, can do the same with large mushrooms.

Making Eggs for a Crowd? Make Sheet Pan Fried Eggs

Making breakfast or brunch for a crowd? Pull out a sheet pan! It's the easiest way to make a bunch of fried eggs at once.

OP has had plenty of advice along the exact same lines I'd have said, seems silly repeating it. But next time someone asks for advice on specific food I'll make sure I channel my inner Fullofpop and give advice on entirely different food 😊

Or channel @Acc0untant and give NO advice 😂

No advice is better than unrelated advice but you do you! Have a wonderful day.

A massive fritatta with bacon rashers Meghan-style and a rainbow fruit platter to follow?

That's not an English Breakfast though, and not what the OP asked for.

Now I really want a fry up for dinner tonight!

Doseofreality · 08/03/2025 14:40

Get it delivered from a local cafe is what I would do 😂

Onlyonekenobe · 08/03/2025 14:44

I'd do porridge in the slow cooker 😂

MaltipooMama · 08/03/2025 14:44

I did a huge brunch recently for my partner's family who were visiting and it went down a storm, they said it felt like a hotel buffet and took pictures 😂 I also managed to avoid loads of cooking and spent virtually no time in the kitchen! This is what I had:

A shit load of chipolatas cooked in the air fryer in a silver foil tray to keep warm along with loads of bread rolls, pre-sliced with butter dish next to it as well as sauces
A massive pre-made fruit salad in a huge serving dish
Two big bowls of yoghurt, one vanilla one strawberry
Pack of shop bought croissants
Pack of shop bought pain au chocolat
A delicious pack of Ocado bake in the oven mini mixed pastries

There was loads left over which my partner and I ate the next day and I spent about 15 mins total in the kitchen, just bunged everything in bowls!

I would probably do bacon and sausage sandwiches if everyone eats pork.

valder · 08/03/2025 14:48

Yes, get it delivered if you can. I'd be in a flap if I had to cook breakfast for 12. All those pots, pans, dishes, timings OMG.

Anyway on the rare occasions where I had to provide breakfast for a group (inwardly screamed...) I just cracked a dozen or so eggs in a bowl added creme fraiche, seasoning, a bit of grated cheese, some chopped fresh tomatoes. Whisked it up.Poured into a large roasting tin or two. The night before I cooked the sausages and bacon and cut them up and added to the egg mixture. Into the oven. Sliced it up and served with beans and hash browns (that was easy!) beans in m.w. hashes in the oven.

Did the toast in between the grill racks in the oven. Genius - saw it on Facebook.

But never again. I've retired from all that, someone else can do it now. 😊

OlgaFjeldso · 08/03/2025 14:51

I’d pare it right down for that many tbh.

Sausages and bacon in the air fryer or grill. Fried mushrooms for the vegetarians.

Big batch of white oven bottom muffins. Maybe some ketchup and brown sauce.

Serve everything in big oven dishes for people to help themselves, with coffee or tea as preferred.

Follow it up with sweet pastries for people who are still hungry.

MaltipooMama · 08/03/2025 15:04

@Dipitdyeit oh gosh I hadn't read any of the comments so I don't know who either of those people are 🙈🤣 oh well though... if OP finds it useful that's all that matters!

I cook a full English for everyone at Xmas. I used a hot hostess serving tray. It's got 4 sections. I cook the hash browns in the air fryer then put them in the hostess tray. I cook sausages in the air fryer next. Then put them in the hostess tray. I grill 2 or 3 racks of smoked bacon. As it cooks I pop it in with sausages in the hostess tray. I put a big bowl of baked beans and a bowl of plum tomatoes in the microwave. I cut fresh tomatoes in Half's and grill. I pop 2 x 4 slice toasters in and cut toast into fingers and then get a second lot on. First lot in the hostess tray. I fry eggs in 2 x large frying pans whilst the first lot of toast is cooking. I cook eggs and put them straight onto the plates. People then take their plate with fried egg on and help themselves to the rest. DH cooks scrambled eggs and it goes in the last slot in the hostess trolley. I serve myself last. The trick is to get things cooked first in the air fryer and then time the rest to finish at the same time. Everything stays hot and people seem to enjoy it. DH makes the coffee. Glasses and cartons of fresh apple and orange juice put out onto the table with cutlery. Some just want a rambled egg and toast others want the works. DH also cooks vegetarian sausages in his microwave.

I’d do a huge plate of different pastries
couple of platters of beautiful fresh fruit
a stack of yogurts smoothies and juices
cold meats, cheese and some breads

Edited

Very nice but it’s supposed to be an English breakfast!

Also love them, they’re my favourite bit. They’re on every cooked breakfast I’ve ever had out and about!
