Mini rice cooker, Judge

I've recently bought one, it has rave reviews.
But I can't get it right, poor eyesight means I can't see the line in the pot to add the water.
I'm thinking that if the cup holds 150g of rice (or 160 if you weigh both together), there is presumably an amount of water that could be weighed. I'm using basmati.
Many thanks for your help.

No help here, I've just got rid of my microwave rice cooker just couldn't get on with it. Would love to know what I was doing wrong.

I had a Joseph mw cooker & loved it. It had an "accident" , so I replaced it with this one.
Maybe I should have bought another one.

With my rice cooker - just a cheapy one I just double the water to rice. Doesn't need to be a specific measuring cup etc - sometimes I just use a mug and just do half a mug of rice and a full mug of water!

With basmati, I usually just pour in rice and add water until it’s about 1cm above the rice. The only time I measure and weigh is when using sticky/sushi rice.
I use a little less water for jasmine rice than I do for basmati.

TheSandgroper · 08/03/2025 14:33

I use the 1st knuckle measurement though I don’t have a rice cooker. I get it right about 95% of the time now.

LilyCandelabra · 08/03/2025 14:48

I've got a Sistema microwave one and always do one part rice to two parts water for both jasmine and basmati, though use a slightly shorter cooking time for the jasmine. @Officenoticeofthisissue were you leaving to stand for at least 10 mins? Makes all the difference.

This sounds so frustrating. I recently got a rice cooker and love it so much! Could you get someone with better eyesight to measure the correct amount of water for you using the line in the pot once, and make a note of the weight of it so you can replicate it yourself in the future?

Thanks for your help, I'll persevere.

Up to knuckle on your thumb of water above the top of the rice. Works every time.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 09/03/2025 17:24

125 grams of water to 100 grams of rice. Or 1 and 1 quarter cup of water to 1 cup of rice.

We have a measuring copy with our rice cooker. We use 2 cups of rice and 3 cups of water and this works out the right consistency for 4 people.

Maitri108 · 09/03/2025 17:29

Pour in rice, add water up to the knuckle of your forefinger. Works for me and I also have a mini rice cooker.

footpain · 09/03/2025 17:33

I find it really hard to see the black measuring lines on the black pot of mine too so I just weigh the rice and water and pour it in, I use basmati and weigh the amount of rice I want and then add double the amount of water
