Indian starter recipes

Looking for recipes for Indian starters that I can prepare at home and take to a dinner party (could be reheated at the dinner). It's not something I really ever make and googling isn't making me feel inspired. Any suggestions? Thanks

Ooh, I'd look up menus for nice indian restaurants and see if any of them inspire me. Samosa and onion bhaji are easy to prep and reheat and very safe bets.

If you enjoy cooking you could whip up some lovely dips to go with. Those are always the best bit.

If you can get your hands on Dishoom cookbook they have some great stuff or i always like bon appetite recipes https://www.bonappetit.com/cuisine/indian?srsltid=AfmBOorga60NeXkoJ6j7Eidb1baBrc_xKm1ayXsZl2CsHX-Df0FZ2QV_

Look up basket chat, bit of a faff as lots if components but is assembled served cold. So delicious, you will be popular!

(For ease you can dispense with making the baskets and instead use gu pots)

Maybe some tandoori chicken with a little salad? Do you know what the main will be?

We don't have starters as such when I make Indian food but I often make chickpea salad, sweetcorn salad and raita with poppadoms (bought) as sides. I also make tandoori paneer and/or prawns too

Onion bahjis are shockingly easy. I used a wok to reduce the amount of oil in the pan so you only use a cups worth or so. Make a yoghurt dip, mango chutney. Cook before hand and cook. Then warm in a hot oven for 5 minutes to crisp up before eating on the day.

I enjoy fritters, like onion bhajis, made with chicken pea/gram flour, a variety of veg and flavours. I oven bake them, rather than deep frying, although this likely isn't traditional.

Sometimes just sliced onion, but I've also done grated courgette, peas, corn, peppers or a combination of a few veg together. You could make smallish ones and serve say 3 on a plate, with yoghurt or a spicy sauce on mixed lettuce leaves.

This recipe is just a guide to what I mean. https://createmindfully.com/vegetable-fritters/

I made these ever summer when I have a glut of beans, but again, I've made them with peas and other veg.
