Wondered if anyone had any ideas for something to make with frozen mixed berries.
Can You bake with them?
Apart from waiting to defrost and having with greek yoghurt and honey, I really cant think of anything.
Gave my mixer away,(no idea why) so cant do smoothie.

I tried google but not found much to be honest.

What you suggest is more than good enough!
Also, how about a crumble?

TheArmadillo · 06/05/2008 17:01

USe them instead of sweets for kids (still frozen).

Put them in vodka for nice drink.

Make them into ice cubes with water.

AitchTwoCiao · 06/05/2008 17:02

mix them with whipped cream and some icing sugar and it turns into ice-cream.

SlightlyMadSweet · 06/05/2008 17:02

Put them in a dish.

Sprinkle brown sugar over.

Top with crumble mix......viola easy crumble.

Ettenna · 06/05/2008 17:04

put them in a mereingue (?) nest and top with Greek yog or cream.

dustyteddy · 06/05/2008 17:06

they are nice in fruit jelly

cluttercup · 06/05/2008 17:06

Bake them into muffins - berries stay more or less whole that way - yum...!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 06/05/2008 17:06

ooh all sound good. Loving the vodka idea but will wait till after had baby.

So if I were to make a crumble can they go straight into oven or do I have to defrost first.

You can make muffins with them. Just add straight from the freezer to a plain muffin recipe.

MascaraOHara · 06/05/2008 17:07

another vote for making muffins with them..

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 06/05/2008 17:08

wish I had mereingue nests or muffin cases in.
Only have flour, sugar and eggs.

Could you make your meringue yourself if you have eggs?

I normally buy TEsco frozen apple/summmer berries in my crumbles.

I do the recipe on teh side of hte pack which, I think it says defrost but I can't be sure.

Nagapie · 06/05/2008 18:51

Use them in smoothies...

zippitippitoes · 06/05/2008 18:53

i eat them for breakfast with oats and granola

yoyo · 06/05/2008 18:59

Make a white chocolate sauce (melt chocolate and add cream to thin) serve the sauce hot over the frozen berries. Absolutely fantastic!

SlightlyMadSweet · 06/05/2008 19:21

yoyo...I had that in a pub/restaurant once....was delicious.

kitbit · 06/05/2008 19:28

let them defrost a bit then put them in a freezer bag and smash em with a rolling pin, then add to ice cream, stir and pour warm choc sauce over the top

drool

scaryteacher · 07/05/2008 12:06

they do Yoyo's suggestion at the Ivy - I do it with mil chocolate as I don't like white chocolate - it's so easy.

lovecat · 07/05/2008 23:25

make a lemon jelly with half the specified amount of water, add the frozen fruit and whiz with a blender until smush, this will help set the jelly very quickly, pour into ramekins/dishes and stick in fridge for half an hour. Very tangy & refreshing. If feeling in the need for lard, also blend in a pack of soft cheese/philly to get a creamy dessert.

Pavlovthecat · 07/05/2008 23:29

mix with hot porridge/ready brek, his defrosts them nicely.
Defintely crumble.
