Is it possible to blend something COMPLETELY smooth?

Essentially to sneak veg in to sauces for my VERY fussy DS. I’ve got a magimix food processor and a stick blender which is what I would always use for baby purees and soup, etc. Never really had issues but looking at recipes for hidden veg sauces and the photos do look as if it’s completely smooth. Is this actually possible? My kids would always be able to spot the flecks of veg. Now wondering if I should invest in a jug blender or nutri bullet? Have I been conned by marketing?

I don't know as my child is not that level of fussy, but I tend to chop everything very fine in a food processor and I would say chopping tiny BEFORE cooking will probably disguise the veg better because it would take on the colour of e.g. tomatoes (if he'll eat a tomato sauce) while cooking. Then you can re-blend when cooked.

I've got the tommee tippee food blender and it really does blend completely smooth

I've always managed to blend veg completely smooth with a hand blender. Magimix is a bit more variable. I used to sneak all sorts of veg into home made burgers and pasta sauces and pizza toppings - blend to baby food puree consistency and stir into food you know they will eat.

Put it through a sieve after blending?

Put it through a sieve after blending?

The problem with that is that the resulting puree lacks all the fibre goodness of the fruit and veg.

Thank you, this is helpful. Yes I think blending before cooking is probably the way forward. Can always blend again or sieve after that.

The nutribullet is definitely smoother than a stick blender, but more faff

I did have an Aldi fake nutri-bullet that someone gave me but it wasn’t much cop!
