I spend a few days each week working in London and live a 3 hour journey away, so I spend nights away from home. Over the last few months I’ve been spending a lot of money comfort eating and it’s showing in the fit of my clothes. I want to start meal prepping at home and bringing healthier meals that I can freeze at home and heat up in the microwave in my office canteen. What kind of containers are best for this? I’ve been reading that things like yogurt pots leach microplastics which I would prefer to avoid. Thanks for any tips.

You can buy microwavable bowls and dishes with lids with a steam vent.

You can get glass dishes with clip on lids which are ideal for this and won’t leak as you travel.

They’re quite heavy though aren’t they? And subject to breakage?

Amazon have a good range, but you'll need clingfilm as the lids don't go in the MW. Also, only use the round ones as the square ones can leak.

Can you tell me who makes the vented lids? Are they freezeable?

Yes, they are heavy, but I’ve never broken one and I have them in my bag on public transport nearly every day. The glass is thick like a Pyrex casserole dish.

No container is perfect. It’s up to you whether you choose lightweight or fear of microplastics.

Zwilling vacuum type it sucks out the air - Google and see if it may suit your needs. There are lunchboxes that can be microwaved and good for food prep and making lunches ahead too. Also gives you warnings on phone when food has been there for a long time.
