Would you purchase your groceries if there was a 24 hour service?

What does that mean?

GallopingGuineaPigs · 01/01/2025 21:21

Huh?

EmpressaurusKitty · 01/01/2025 21:24

I used an app once for an emergency 11pm delivery of paper towels & cleaning stuff because of a vomiting cat.

ThePoshUns · 01/01/2025 21:28

Market research to complete?

Baskit · 01/01/2025 21:32

As in if someone was to delivery groceries with a very low minimum spend at any time?

So Uber eats or Deliveroo? If there was demand for 2am deliveries, I guarantee they would be doing it already

Seeline · 02/01/2025 11:26

Uber eats already do this if there is a supermarket open 24/7, or a 24hr garage etc

But how does that work for the 'someone'? There's unlikely to be people queuing up to deliver groceries at odd times without being paid very well to do it, for which there's likely to be very little demand.

Deliveroo, Uber Eats offer this service and they have a huge amount of money behind them and it still makes a loss, even though the people doing all this fetching and carrying for people earn very little from it, especially at times of low demand. Would you be effectively on call in the middle of the night in case an order came in for you to take them some milk from the local garage without them paying you silly money to do it?

LostittoBostik · 02/01/2025 11:42

There is if you live in a large city - uber eats or Deliveroo.

Also you can book Ocado any time between 6am and midnight. Not sure there's any demand in the remaining six hours of the day.

MaltipooMama · 02/01/2025 11:48

I would if I absolutely had to, although I don't love doing this because they jack the prices right up normally! I think wherever I have the option to, I'd rather go there in person and have a mooch around as I always end up spotting extra things that I "need"!

Doggymummar · 02/01/2025 11:51

We have that already, TESCO woosh deliver within 40 minutes, Argos in two hours, Deliveroo and Uber eats within sixty mins. Amazon one hour from Morrisons. Have used woosh for booze and fags but I am usually organised enough to get everything at the store.

I think this has a lot to do with where you’re planning to do it. London - very little point, we’re covered. More remote places that might find it useful in emergencies - are you initially depending on there being a 24 hour shop you can get the stuff from?
