I've done several recipes which varioisly riff on a theme of a pan-fried piece of fish served on a bed of (insert carb/pulse of choice) and the general flow is to chop up capers, some other vegetable so might as well use your artichokes, and perhaps somespring onions, fry them a bit with your choice of merchant gourmet grain/pulse sachet eg perhaps Belulga lentils, and stir in the salmon paste. Once cooked through, arrange that onto plates and keep warm while you fry (in the same pan) a couple of fillets of Bream or Plaice or whatever, then set on top of the pulse/grain with a squeeze of lemon and some black pepper.

Don't try to use the mango chutney in the same combo though.

My dad put mango chutney on his cheddar cheese sandwiches. Not a recipe, but it's certainly easy.

Wigtopia · 01/01/2025 01:01

Capers and artichoke would both go well in bolognaise

slightlydistrac · 01/01/2025 01:02

Mango chutney is good for basting on baked gammon.

Mango Chutney Chicken Thighs - I tried this recipe before Christmas, I didn’t have high expectations but am planning to cook it again as it tasted good & was very simple to do mid-week:

Capers- Puttanesca. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/spaghetti-puttanesca

Mango Chutney- https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/bobotie

Artichokes- Greek salad and add them in or this pasta salad https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/19389/greek-orzo-salad/

Salmon paste- Hmm, on toast?

If you can't use all the things, put them on the olio app which is a free, food sharing app. It doesn't even need to be in date or sealed! https://olioapp.com/en/

Spaghetti puttanesca served in a pan

Spaghetti puttanesca

Cook up this classic sauce in one pan, then toss with spaghetti for a simple midweek meal. It's budget-friendly too, making it a great meal for the family

Use some mango chutney cooked into the mince in a bolognaise. If you have unopened jars they will last a good while.

A cup of chutney and a cup of mayo mixed, can add in a bit of fruit juice too. Put this over chicken pieces and into the oven.

Capers, add in to pasta or if you haven't had enough of crackers yet, I top some crackers with cream cheese, salmon paste and some capers on top.

I need to use up mixed olives. Unfortunately they have pips which annoy me. Any ideas. I have a bowl full that I need to use up soon.

Mary Berry’s artichoke dip is gorgeous

Mango chutney spread on bread, filled with cheese then toasted (or in toasted sandwich or panini maker) is delish. You could also sprinkle a few chilli flakes in before filling with cheese.

AdaColeman · 01/01/2025 07:10

Salmon paste on toast or a sandwich, scatter the capers over liberally.
Fish finger sandwich with capers. Stir the capers and some chives or spring onions into Greek yoghurt for a quick sauce for any fish.

Mango chutney, stir into Greek yoghurt or 50/50 yoghurt and mayonnaise, for a Coronation sauce for chicken salad. Add extras such as raisins, chopped dried apricots, flaked almonds etc.

I add a tablespoon of mango chutney to veg curries or as part of the marinade for spiced chicken. Delicious.

I sometimes put brie with mango chutney in Filo parcels.

OP Mango chutney goes well with lots of cheesy things, cheese on toast, added to baked brie.

That's probably about four quid's worth of food that needs another 20-30 spending on ingredients to make a meal... just bin them or put them on Olio!

Your filo parcels sound amazing, brie is my favourite cheese.

That’s not an issue. I just want to get them used

This is a strange comment.

All of these can be added in to be used up into another meal. Which is basically what OP is asking. I.e how to incorporate them into other meal ideas.

Why would anyone bin chutney..?. It's a staple condiment in my part of the world.

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 01/01/2025 12:03

Capers - fry fish, when nearly done, melt butter in pan and add lemon juice and capers.

Artichoke - chop and mix with feta, olives (capers?) and breadcrumbs to stuff peppers..

AtleastitsnotMonday · 01/01/2025 13:34

I make a spiced cauliflower and lentil soup and stir a good dollop of mango chutney through that.
I also add it to a kind of coronation chicken, mix mayo with a bit of curry paste, mango chutney and yoghurt and add cooked diced chicken breast, finely diced red onion and celery and a chopped apple. Make a really nice filling in a wrap or pita or a topping for a baked potato.
If you eat fish, try mixing mango chutney with curry paste and yoghurt, then using the mixture to coat cod fillets. Then cook in a pan, it forms a lovely crust.
