Rice cooker - other uses ?

I've just bought a mini electric rice cooker, haven't even used it yet.

Does anyone use it for cous cous, fregola, orzo or any other small pasta?
Or adding some mixed veg for a sort of "fried rice" ?
Any tips greatly appreciated.

The instructions say any type of rice (including wild, which is not a rice), but no other foodstuffs are mentioned.

Thank you.

Yes, I found Japanese youtube videos are the best for ideas with extra vegetables, plus chicken or salmon - look for takikoma gohan. I also use it for other grains (quinoa, buckwheat etc), and found ratios in the manufacturer's Yum Panda's online blog.

Depends on it's settings, mine is 12 in 1 so can make porridge, soup, casseroles, curries, pressure cooking etc but if it's one setting only it would need to cook in the preset time, you can add flavours and precooked things like beans, chopped tomatoes etc and veg cut small enough to cook in the 12-15 mins it takes at temperature. I've made rice and peas in my old one for instance

I've made this one pot honey soy chicken rice in mine and it was great. I've also made other simple one pot rice dishes like kedgeree and jolloff rice successfully, but not been brave enough to stray from a rice base yet.

This is a library of recipes by my brand of rice cooker.

I agree with PP advice to look up Japanese videos or recipe ideas, I got a really appealing looking video pop up on my TikTok for rice cooker adobo chicken which was from a video series by someone who is half Japanese and lived in Japan for some years. Rice cookers are so much more common in Asian households so will have much better content.

Thanks for the help.

it's a mini, & the only setting is "cook" , & then it judges when the rice is ready & switches itself to "keep warm".
It worked fine with basmati , so I'll be trying some of the suggestions & links
