I’m thinking of doing a baked Camembert with the Boxing Day buffet, I like tacos to dip in but I’m told I’m strange 😂.

what does everyone else look for to dip into the cheesy goodness

Breadsticks or pieces of baguette
cucumber sticks
cornichons

Strawberry jam on the side! (Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it..)

I good quality baguette/sourdough or ciabatta. Thinly sliced and fresh… mamamia divine!

Id get a part baked ciabatta or baguette then it will be fresh on the day

Slices of baguette in our house. I cut slits in the cheese, put in garlic, rosemary and a few drops of white wine. We have a camembert baking dish with a lid to cook it in ( thanks sister in-law!) But you can just use the wooden box, although those have a tendency to leak.

An Italian deli meat selection goes well with it.

No? Strawberry jam? 🤢

Garlic and rosemary is your friend…

It does make you froth a bit about the mark up cost wise in restaurants though!

Focaccia by the deli kitchen. Slice, throw in air fryer with plenty of salt and olive oil!

Warm crispy baguette or doughballs or crackers like Peters Yard sour rye. Maybe celery, red pepper and carrot sticks.
Good chutney on the side.
Whole roast garlic cloves and rosemary baked with it to flavour it.

Crackers might break in it. Actual bread has structural integrity. I don't want your crackers in my melty cheese, thank you very much.

Just about anything really. Even a (clean) finger dipped in once the molten lava-like hotness has subsided somewhat, and the guests have departed.
Seriously, a choice of crispy and soft things to dip. I have been known to cut a large cob-type loaf into 1-inch squares from the top crust down almost to the bottom, giving a chequerboad effect, then stuffing the cracks and smearing the top with garlic butter before baking it.
It then becomes a sort of pull-apart loaf with both crispy and squidgy bits. Heaven.

Now that's more a baked loaf with added cheese, but it sounds fab.

Baked baby potatoes

Roast potatoes according to my work buffet this week. I was unconvinced. Stick with a baguette!

Georgyporky · 13/12/2024 10:04

Some form of bread, but cut into bite-size pieces.

Otherwise the vile, filthy habit of double-dipping is inevitable.

Roast cauliflower
