What to serve with Cod

I've got some fish, but I don't know what to serve with it, Its fresh, I just tend to wrap it in foil with a squeeze of lemon.
I normally serve it with new potatoes and broccolli. I'm a bit tired of this.

What else can I serve with it?

I've pretty much got most storecupboard stuff.

suggestions please

THANKS

You could steam it in a parcel with some cous-cous, lots of herbs, white wine, spring onion, preserved lemon. Something along those lines. Maybe some saffron too.

Then serve with, uh brocolli!

peas and mash and a bit of parsley sauce

Tahini sauce?

moondog · 30/04/2008 16:44

I've just cooked some haddock on a bed of courgettes and tomatoes.
Covered with slices of lemon, olive oil, harissa, olives and capers.

BecauseImWorthIt · 30/04/2008 16:44

Wrap it in parma ham/pancetta/bacon and bake in the oven with a sloosh of olive oil over the top

gingerninja · 30/04/2008 16:44

lentils (puy ones or vertes) are good. I chop up a load of veg, squash, beetroot, spring onions etc etc small and fry it up serving mixed with lentils

Another goody for white fish is fry some bacon, mushrooms, onion and put on top of fish with some cheese bake in oven and serve with rice and erm brocolli

White fish is lurvely with a tomato sauce - the classic onions, garlic, tomatoes, herbs etc (or just a ready-made jar of pasta sauce) - pour it over fish, bake in oven till cooked, I'd have it with mashed potatoes (to soak up sauce) and sauteed courgettes.

Also the other day I made fish curry - curry spices, garlic and ginger, fry with onions in olive oil, add tin of tomatoes and cook for a bit, add chunks of fish, simmer till fish is cooked, eat with rice.

smellypits · 30/04/2008 16:50

Chips. Clearly?

moondog · 30/04/2008 16:52

Ginge, I have cooked like a demon this week.
Fridge groaning with cold roast pork, beef bourgignon, chilli con carne and now this.

Question is, who will eat it all?

whitesheep · 30/04/2008 16:56

Fry little strips of bacon and add frozen peas and a tin of lentils. Cook this for a bit and put cooked fish on top. Delish!

How are you going to steam that without all the juices falling out?
