Christmas canapés

If you went to a Christmas drinks party (8-10pm) what would you expect to eat? I’ll do mulled wine and mince pies, but what other nibbles would you like? Is it too late in the evening for savoury? Should I stick to sweet things? Ideas gratefully received!!

That's a tricky time. Some people will have eaten, others wouldn't have. Personally, for a party at that time, I'd serve savoury canapes. Not in ginormous quantities, but a selection of little blini with toppings, some cheese straws, a few dips or a bit of charcuterie/cheese. All things I can realtively easily do in advance - definitely nothing I'ld need to do in the oven.

Thanks all - that’s helpful. It’s late because I needed it to be after I put the children to bed (4 of them 7 and under). Definitely needs to be minimum prep and ideally stuff I can just buy/heat.

I like things on a stick
Blue cheese, pear and mini gherkins
Prawn, chorizo, cherry tomato
Chicken tikka, mango, cucumber (mini popadoms and raita on the side)

Smoked salmon blinis
Olives

Most wine doesn’t really go with sweet stuff so you will need to plan plenty of savoury foods.
